Hi.
I had unprotected sex with my infected partner the day after we began treatment for Chlamydia. He was prescribed 1 dose azithromycin and I was prescribed a z-pack. He took the 1 g dose 24 hours before we had unprotected sex and I took the first pill of my z-pack about 12 hours before. If I keep taking my medication and we do not have sex for 7 days now, will the antibiotics work? Does the fact that we had sex completely negate us having taking the medicine or will it have an effect as long as we don't have sex for a week now?
Thank you for any help.

Hi, I'm in the same boat and searching for an answer. I have no idea what kind of antibiotic she gave me but that shot was huge. And she said it would cure all but not to have sex.:( Well, I thought I would be ok because me and my boyfriend just broke up. but we got back together and had that wonderful makeup sex. Well, passion got the better of me and no protection was used I'm searching for the answer if I find out I will be sure to repost it.

Not wise things to do at all. You get an STD having unprotected sex when everyone says not to, then you have unprotected sex again before completing your treatment. See a problem here?
I don't mean to judge, but I hope you can see you keep repeating mistakes. I recommend you all go back for retesting in a week or two and, until you are given the all clear, refrain from unprotected sex.

I'm not sure how it is today, but back when I had chlamydia (1988, many moons ago), I was told to refrain from sex during treatment with antibiotics and also for one week after my last dose. Back then they used tetracycline, though, to be taken every six hours round the clock for a week. I agree with Magnetic, you don't want to get it back and keep passing it.

I was told not to have sex during treatment and at least 4 weeks after treatment. Maybe try and control the hormones a bit? Save yourself from repetition.
