Hi everyone - My DD is almost 11 months and LOVES the water. We have a pool and we bring her in (w/swim vest) and she kicks and thrashes like crazy! It's like she wants to be off by her self, she pushes away from me and tries to swim. One of the concerns I am having is that she tries to drink the water constantly...she opens her mouth and puts her face in the water. We stop her and often take her out but she does it every time...I thought she might be thirsty so we keep a sippy cup with water near by but she won't take it. SHe just loves to launch her face right in the water!!! Any ideas???

My 15 month old is the same way! I bought her a water table for the summer and she spends most of her time standing next to it drinking out of the pitcher that came with it - she also does this in our pool and the bathtub! The pool concerns me because of the chlorine, obviously, but it's almost impossible to stop it. Like you, I started keeping a sippy cup full of water next to her but she doesn't want it. I think it's just how she plays right now - she's fascinated by the water. The only thing I did differently was remove her from the swim vest and put her in a mesh float so she can't get to the water with her face, but you can imagine that she isn't as thrilled with the float as she is with the vest.

Not much advice for you, but just so you know we're going through the same thing. The good thing is, your daughter isn't freaked about her face being in the water so that is great for her learning to swim! :)

Oh Gosh! My one year old daughter is the same way! Her Nana has a pool and my daughter shows NO fear. It actually scares me a little bit. The kid thinks she can swim, I swear. She just splashes and splashes and tries to pull away! Her little face goes in the water and I spend ALL my time keeping her ABOVE water. I almost don't want to put her in! At least she's having fun driving mommy crazy already! ;)
