I have a pea shaped lump behind my ear. This's the third week that it's there. It doesn't get bigger or smaller, always the same size.If there is someone here, who had a lump behind his/her ear before and went to the doctor, could you pls tell me what the doctor told you what it could be?And how did you treat it?Any home treatments for that? How many weeks or months later did it disappear?I wanna get rid of it asap because it makes me think that I got infected http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif(

Dear College Stud,
Nodes and glands can come and go for no apparent reason at all. Also, a single pea shaped node behind the ear is not indicative of hiv. Have you had a cold recently? Have you had any pain in the ear? If you are concerned about this please go see your dr. and have the situation evaluated.
Also, can you share the reason why you are concerned about hiv. Maybe we can help you through this time.

I have the same "lump" you speak of, mine is a lymph node caused by thyroid cancer.

Thanks for yr answers. On easter day which was april 20(I think) I went outside and I felt cold and I think my tonsils were swollen for 3-4days.I used a spray for sore throat and it passed but after 5days(25april) I went in front of the mirror(as usual) to check out my body and I realized that there was a lump behind my left ear.I was freaked out.I had just an UNprotected oral sex with a guy which lasted almost 2-3hours.That happened in the middle of march and this lump appeared(I saw it) on april 25.Today is may the 16and I still have this lump behind my left ear.As I observe,I think it's the same size but moving a bit back. Can a swollen gland move and stay almost the same size?
Looking forward to hearing from u
Thanks again and again

One more thing about the lump,
I remember that once I swabbed my ear but I didn't feel any pain.Do u think I went further than i could and irritate my ear? As i told you no pain just a pea(let's say bean) shaped lump.
Pls help me.I'm just trying to find an answer for this reaction behind my left ear

Today I surfed on the internet to learn more about benign cyst.As I mentioned before, I have a little bean shaped lump behind my left ear.The desription of benign cyst looks like the same that i have. Can anyone describe me swollen glands behind the ears? How are they? What size? And where are they located exactly?the one that I have(I think benign cyst) is exactly behind my ear under the ear bone.Hope to hear from people who had this kind of lump/swollen gland.

I had an office visit and tested indeterminant. There is nothing worse then not knowing. I followed it up with 2 Home Access tests at about 5 weeks and 8 weeks both negative and then had a doctors appointment later during week 8 and it tested negative too. I have about a week left until 90 and I plan on using Home Access. Good luck.
