Hi MsKat, I would have to answer what I would answer for any med. A lot depends on the person, their pain levels and how slowly or quickly one's system metabolizes meds. My doc's general rule of thumb is to give a new med about 2-3 months to reach it's maximum benefit. This isn't to say that you shouldn't notice some difference within the first couple of days.

I would say that if you do not see any relief within the first 48 to 72 hours, then a higher dose might be warranted. If you notice it beginning to help, then I would definitely give it some time and see where it goes.

Hope this helps, CMP/MM

You should see a noticeable difference for Lyrica controlling your pain in about a week. If it is helping then you can continue to go up until you reach a point where the side effects start to outweigh the benefit. If you get to that point you may have to back down the dose slightly and this would be a great therapeutic dose for you. Keep us posted on your experience with Lyrica.

I have used it for over 2 years @ a strength of 300mg x 2/day for a total of 600mg/day (which is pretty much the max)
