I am 28 years old and have recently found out my cholesterol is high. My LDL and tri's were extremely high. I have been freaking out since. They did find some nodguls on my thyroid which were benign. I have been exercising and dieting for 2 months now and have lost only 5lbs. I am overweight - not obese but I am trying everything in my power to fix this. My sister suggested flax seed but I am scared it will not mix with birth control pills and zoloft. Anyone know if the flaxseed will effect these medications....help me!!!

Don't freak out! You'll be ok. Cut back on your carbs to help lower your tri's and do some exercise. I don't think the flaxseed with interact with the meds you are taking. Zoloft can make it difficult to lose weight for some people.

Is the 204 your total cholesterol? It would help if you would post your results--LDL, HDL, Trigs so we could have a better idea of what your situation actually is.

Tri 210
HDL 50
LDL 112

My sister is a nurse and suggested the flax seeds and fiber bars. The only thing I am concerned about is the saturated fat in the fiber bars. I do not eat a lot of carbs at all. I have been eating very healthy the past month and working out 5-7/days a week for a month and half- mostly cardio, I am trying to stay away from the weights since I want to lose right now and not build muscle. Any other suggestions!

Thanks everyone!

Those numbers are not bad at all. Your LDL and HDL are within the recommended range. Your triglycerides are a bit high but certainly not extremely high. You can
reduce that number by cutting out carbs. Your exercise routine sounds great.
