I just had my blood work done and the doctor called and told me the numbers--I didn't write them down--but she wanted to put me on medication.. I said please let me try and work on my diet. She is giving me six months to work on this.. I am overweight by 25 lbs or so.. I do not smoke. I do not have high blood pressure. I am not diabetic.. I am a 47 year old female.. I do work out but not like I used to.
She told me to not eat red meat, no whole milk, whole fat cheese and to exercise, exercise, exercise... I actually don't think my diet is that bad but I do like sweets/carbs.
This is all new to me, so I am not sure what is more important here.. She really seemed to stress the exercise portion.
Any help for a newbie would be greatly appreciated..
Thank you!

You really need to know what the results of the tests were. Call the doctor's office and get them, or better yet, pick up a copy so you can keep it for your records. Always get a copy of lab results. I don't think a low fat diet is that effective in reducing cholesterol. A low carb diet provides better results.

Yes, I do want to get a copy of them..
I wasn't aware of the low carb thing.. Hmmm, something to think about because I do love my carbs. I wonder if that's what got me in this boat?
Do you agree with the exercise, exercise, exercise statement?
Thanks
