Hey everybody, I'm on my 3rd day Recovering from a Tonsillectomy, and I noticed that there is a lot of Mucus building up on my Uvula and where my Adenoids used to be. Its very thick, and its impossible to gargle because of its thickness. Has anybody else experienced this? And do you know any solutions to this because I don't want to touch it and risk an infection. thanks

My dr told me not to gargle...but follow your dr's instructions. The buildup is the worst. The best thing for this I found is ice cold water. At this point there is nothing you can do, but it does get better. I had mine taken out on 7/23...finally able to get back to eating and drinking soda.
Good luck!

Hi thanks for responding. I'm on Day 8 now and the mucus stuff kinda went away, but not fully. I've noticed that since I stopped eating Dairy Products, the mucus went away a little. I think its the Dairy Products causing the Mucus/flem to overproduce. I had my friends check it out and they said it might be Scar Tissue, but I'm not really sure.

Dairy products will definitely cause more mucus therefore giving you more buildup. The dr told me not to do dairy and to keep drinking water so that it will thin it out...hope that helps!
