I've been going to a massage therapist for about three months now. I go to a school where advanced students do the massage since it's way cheaper - $30 for an hour. The student I had been seeing graduated about a week ago and last night I saw a different student. She did standard massage on my shoulders and asked if she could do Reiki on my ribs. I was somewhat skeptical about this, but knew enough that it wouldn't do any damage. I don't know if it did much, but I was very relaxed and for a while pain levels were reduced and the amount of swelling over the ribs seems to be less this morning. Has anybody else had any experience with this?

Tigg, I don't remember if you were around the boards back in May, but I had Reiki done and was really surprised by how good I felt after. My session was a full hour and 15 min. of just the Reike, and I walked out of there with pain levels lower than I have seen in years. Probably a 2. It only lasted about 4 hours, but I just couldn't believe how much it helped. And I went into this a bit of a skeptic.
I haven't been since, because it is so expensive. (At least the place that I went to in May) There are a couple of places that do Reiki around here that are less expensive, but I've been a bit leary to "test" them out.
Do you think you'll try it again? Maybe even go for a full 1 hour session? I'd be curious to know what you thought. I'm glad you had a positive experience with it. You've made me think about doing it again. Hugs, CMP/MM

CMP,
Yes I'm going again. I have another appt in 2 weeks. The plan is to continue with the traditional massage on my shoulders since the pain there is now at a level I can easily handle it, and continue the Reiki on my ribs. If nothing else the Reiki is so relaxing that there has to be benefit to that. My pain levels were down to about a 2 last night and I normally live somewhere between 3.5 to a 6 depending on what I've been doing.
