I just finished what will likely be my last R CHOP treatment (did 6 cycles/ every 2 wks) for Stage 3 DLBCL. I got very good report/results from recent CT scan. I will do another CT scan in 3 weeks at which time we will likely decide on a maintenance program.
However, a PET scan is not scheduled for 3 months following the CT scan. The last PET scan was done prior to beginning of treatments. Is 3 months common? Just sounds like long wait.
Thank you!
Manny

hey,
yeah my onc said that they wait awhile to do the PET scan incase of a false positive result. i cant remember why but its something about waiting til all the chemo is completely out of your system and on a CT scan sometimes they find it difficult to differenciate between scar tissue and a mass whereas that doesnt happen on a PET scan. I had to wait about 10 weeks for mine i think so it is normal.
Take care
Amanda

Hi Manny
I just finished 6 R CHOPs also and am currently getting 4 weeks of radiation for stage 4 DLBCL. The pet report for me also said follow up in 3 months with another pet. Must be normal. I think the next few months are going to be the hardest always waiting for the scans to make sure we are still in remission. Good luck to you
