If you have oral sex with someone who has herpes but no visible outbreak can it be spread that way?

That's how I got Type 1 Genital (bloodwork came back negative but the swab tested positive)...bf gave me oral sex. He did not have any cold sores or fever blisters present.

And he didn't know he had Type 1 oral. But from what I've read on here alot of people don't even know they have type 1...
