After months of avoiding the prospect of low-carbing because it's so hard to do in "the real world," I decided on Wednesday last week to go back on Atkins. Before anyone gets on their high horse, it IS a healthy way to lose weight. It's an elimination diet like a doctor puts you on to find food allergies, yes? "Induction" is the part that gets the bad rap because there are no starches allowed. BUT, green veggies and other basic stuff IS allowed. Then after the first 2 weeks, you add back a little at a time. It really teaches you to PAY ATTENTION to your body.
Anyway. I gave in to "normal" food last Wednesday for supper, so I didn't really get started until Thursday. The first two days were hellish, like I knew they would be. BUT. I went into "lipolysis" late on the second day and just haven't been hungry since. I eat because I should, not because I'm starving. And I have been losing quickly--5 lbs already (in five days!).
I started at 192.5 and the Atkins people (per the web site) are now saying to tay on Induction longer if you have more weight to lose. Dr. Atkins NEVER said that and I always had my best results when adding the carbs every week. So... I'm not exactly sure how to proceed...
We'll see how it goes.

I totally agree with you about the Atkins. I did it several years ago, lost almost 50 pounds and kept it off for at least a couple of years. I also never felt so good as when I was on it. It almost completely took away my chronic migraine headaches. I have put on all of the weight again, of course, because I am now eating carbs whenever I want, including the dreaded pepsi, which is my main addiction.
I would love to be brave enough to go back on it, once you are on it, you don't even miss the carbs and I know that, it's just so hard to start it again.
Good luck to you, though and maybe I will try again too.
