Hi All

Generally I am aware that herpes itself will not endanger anyone's lives.

However when I read up on occular herpes it says that if the virus gets into the facial nerves it might cause us to go blind.

Alternatively there is the extremely rare case of encephalitis that can cause death.

Occasionally, I get a tingling feeling in my face. Is this normal??? I'm afraid that it might lead to either one of the two conditions above.

Will appreciate any inputs from any of you seniors here.

Herpes in the eyes can be extremely dangerous, however, there are drops that treat the infection. You have to be extra careful with the eyes. If you have tingling on your face you may have been infected on your face and you may break out or may never break out there. I know people that have tingling but the actual outbreak never happens.

I have heard that doctors say the number of ob in the eyes can cause scar tissue in the eyes that can cause damage if not treated.

yes both are rare but both if caught in time are treatable. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms it is best to go get checked with the Herpes Encephaltis you also will have seizures, high fevers, loss of appette, imagine things, inconherent, tingling, loss of motor skills... you have more chance of transmitting it with HSV1 then HSV2, but like the other member mentioned both are very very rare. I say it is better to be educated when it comes this virus, I know it is scary, but don't panic, you know your body and if something was seriously wrong you would know other then the norm.. take care and breathe...:)
