On July 8 this year I had my left kidney and adrenal gland removed by radical nephrectomy. After surgery I was told the clear cell cancer was a stage T2 and a grade III based on size. The surgeon said he feels good about the surgery and thinks he got all the cancer out - but no guarantees. I am now eating good and walking about 5-6 miles a day. Can't do much for the first 6 weeks which is very hard because my wife and I are very active outdoor people.
I am happy to find this group and hope that I can make contact with people like myself to share experiences. I have been advised about a clinical trial ECOG E2805 which as explained may kill any cancer cell that possibly remained following surgery. This trial seems to have a great amount of risks associated with it and also I could be place on placebo and not get the test drugs (Nexavar or Sutent).
My basis questions are:
Does anyone have any knowledge of this trial or these target treatment drugs?
If I don't enter this trial and the cancer returns - is there any treatment options at that time? Does anyone know?
Please provide any info you may know about and a BIG thanks. If there is someone out there that's on this trial I'd sure like to maybe discuss over the phone.
