hello my name is Joanne and I am new here
last week I went in for a check via ultrasound because I have thalassemia intermedia...I had a very bad feeling when the nurse left the room..came back in and redid my liver.
Anyways to make a long story short my hematologist says I have a cyst on my liver which looks benign but they want a follow up on a CT scan.

I have not eaten in over 2 days..I feel like I am losing my mind!
I am so scared that it might end up being liver cancer...my father died of Colon Cancer in Feb of this year.

A couple of things about me
I just turned 40 last month..I have cysts that come and go in my ovaries...
My last ultrasound was March 29 2007 and it was clear. I did have a colonoscopy Feb 2007 and all was clear .
I have not used birth control pills since 1990 when a benign breast lump was found and removed.

I have a 3 year old son and I am just beside myself..I am so scared that I am actually having suicidal thoughts!

Can they sort of tell from an ultrasound if it sort of looks benign or not?

I insisted on the CT scan as soon as possible so I will be going in next Thursday.
I am also having mild pain in my right side??? is this normal?

hello I just wanted to come back and let everyone know that my Dr called this morning and said the 2 cysts on my liver are Hemangiomas and they are benign..

Of course I feel relief but there is always a question mark..I think I will ask for a retest in 6 months.
