Hi everyone. I had a tonsillectomy on Monday August 11th.
On my way to the hospital, I was real nervous and wanted to back out. I got my tonsils out because of tonsil stones so I was thinking, "I can just live with them!" But the truth is I wanted them out! The surgery itself was a piece of cake, YOU'RE ASLEEP! :)
When i woke up i was ok just a slight sore throat but they gave me med and a drink to take care of that. Soon, i was able to go home when my blood pressure was normal and i urinated.
When i got home i was ok. I drank A LOT and slept. I also ate some jello and lots of ice. I didn't sleep through the night because I wanted to stay on top of the medicine and the drinking.

DAY 2
The lortab elixir started to give me palpitations and tightness in my chest. I have mitral valve prolapse so my doctor took me off of this great medicine. He put me on Tylenol with Codeine which is not as strong.
I'm still ok, eating eggs, Ensure, and drinking lots of Gatorade with ice.
Still not sleeping in the night cuz I want to stay on top of being hydrated and my medicine.
The tylenol with codeine is making me a little shaky and itchy. AHHHH! I hope I dont have to come off these meds.
THroat pain is at about a 5.

DAY 3
Woke up today with lots of white in my throat. Pain is a little worse today which i expected. I tried to eat scrambled eggs but its not as easy as it was yesterday to eat them.
I'm waiting for my next dose of the codeine at 9:30. Its 8:47. Maybe I can eat after.
I've been constantly putting ice on my neck, the humidifier is always on and i am always resting.
Just hungry.
I'll post again later.

I had my tonsils out on July 23, and up until last week, was not really able to eat all that much. The first couple of days all I did was drink lots of water and water ice. By the third day I was able to eat scrambled eggs and pancakes(but with lots of butter and syrup to make it soft). I always found if I took my pain meds within 15 minutes I was able to eat something. Also, my dr told me to take liquid tylenol which helped take the edge off in between taking my other meds.

good luck and keep us posted

Yea I have that White stuff in my throat too, I think its mucus buildup...Not sure tho. Stay away from Dairy Products, thats what I did and it improved.
