I have always had cold sores as a child my blood results showed I have both HSV 1 IgG = 4.57 and HSV 2 IgG = 1.29. I have never had symptoms down there. Does this mean I really have both or could it just be that I do have HSV 1 and the blood test can not tell the difference? I have herd so many different things. I am 22 years old and have been with my partner for 3 year. He has never had a cold sore from me and no symptoms down there, but does this mean I could have gave it to him?

He Needs To Be Tested. There Are So Many People That Have This And Dont Know It Because They Are Asymptomatic And Show No Out Breaks Or Anything. Thats Why So Many Of Us Have It And Its Now Becoming An Epidemic And They Are Running For A Cure. Get Tested Be Safe

jess, to tell you my honest opinion, who has what really doesn't matter because all you can do is worry when you think the ob will occur. So i think that it has probably already spread back and forth. I say go about your life and not worry and not blame. what we have is what we have. It's good to get paps too because 9 out of 10 women test positive for hpv too. I think it sort of goes alomg with herpes.:)

I didn't know that stats on getting hpv were that high...9 out of 10?? Anyway, I was tested for that too but negative. But maybe having Type 1 genital is different?? I know that shot is available for younger women but for us mid 30 gals, should we get one too? I didn't even think to ask my gyno...I just know he did the test as well as tested me for everything under the sun and thankfully it all came back neg except for the Type 1 thing.

yes, harley, my gyno said that 90%of women in his waiting room have been exposed and don't know it. thats why they came out with this vaccine.they don't want the next generation to have to deal with this. it's so out of control along with herpes he said. i think that's why some doctors take this so lightly. they see it everyday day in and day out and these women go through the same reactions they see when they have to break it to them. i realy believe that pretty much if you have hepes then you better test for hpv too. i did. i would take that shot if you are lucky enough not to have it

I was tested for hpv at the same time as the swab for herpes...hpv was negative but he didn't comment about the two go along with each other but probably didn't want to freak me out either! LOL! I'm just glad all that was positive out of all the tests ran was Type 1. He didn't mention a need for the shot. I'm only sexually active with one guy and he's only sexually active with me. I can definitely trust that. I've come to realize there are jerks out there (experienced many in my many years of dating) but this one is different. Thank GOD!

hi harley, i'm so happy that you don't have hpv. they don't necessarly go hand in hand but it is a virus that is in my opinion as active in spreading the virus more so that herpes. so, in my opinion i feel like when the doctor say s that most people have this hpv virus in different strains then i feel it more than likely is also going around just as fast. what we all have to remember is that we have all kinds of virus in our bodies that don't bother us at all. this herpes just happens to be an nuisance to all who have it. it's not a deadly virus but it's just so embarassing because we have to face up to it because we are contagious most of the time according to the tv ads. it's hard to forget it. we are reminded when we date or when we have an outbreak. it just will never leave our body. the hpv strain that causes warts is also a real hard strain to feel good about. it really takes a toll on these girls that have to have them treated for really a couple of years, then they slowly stop ob. the silent strain of hpv is now a concern for cancer so no wonder we all feel that shock in finding out that what we have can do that and we can't even see it. i pray the scientists come up with a cure but in for now checkups will catch anything quickly before it starts. we can all live with this a lead normal lives. there are all kinds of things out there and this canbe watched and treated at least.
