just over 4 weeks ago i did something i have never ever done before in 20 years, i went out with friends, got drunk and ended up sleeping with a woman i don't know. i know now she is used to sleeping around and now i am worrying myself sick with fears over hiv.
more worrying it was full sex without protection, i ejaculated in her, we had sex about 5 times thru the night however each episode only lasted about 3 or 4 minutes. every ache and pain i'm now looking for any possible symptons! can anyone give me any statistics or figures on possible transmission rates if this woman was positive, i'm worried sick. i'm booked in for a blood test in about 7 weeks. -- live in uk --
what a stupid thing i've done

Dear friend,
Don't worry about anything! Your symptoms are hypochondria! Contrary to popular belief, nothing enters the male urethra. In Africa, they are dying of non-AIDS related illnesses and it is just easier to say, "these women gave these men AIDS." It does not work this way! Notice how no lesbians have HIV. One must be a RECEPTOR in a forceful way to be at risk. People with HIV have usually been exposed to it several times in the past. Other STD's are entirely possible, but are usually easily curable. Herpes and HPV virsus are the only two that are not curable, but there is medication to keep them under control.
relax and have fun.
Mr. Devine:
You're joking, right? "No man has ever gotten HIV from a women"? On what grounds do you make that statement? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've never heard that before, and it sounds like a radical view.

I have to agree with Quem on this one. If HIV can't pass into the male urethra, then how do men get other STDs. It has to go INTO the urethra for them to contract it, RIGHT??!! Also, how do you know that lesbians don't have HIV? I'm curious cause I've actually never seen a study on this and would like to find info to support what you are stating. I don't think it is a good idea to come here and let people think they are fine. Billy, you are at high risk because you did have unprotected sex. However, that means nothing without knowing her status. Yes, it is more difficult for men to become infected because certain sphincter muscles are used to close off the urethra, but when relaxed these muscles don't always do their job. Try not to think about it so often and get tested at the appropiate times. When you begin stressing you tend to have symptoms that many believe are due to HIV. It also never hurts to get tested now. This could be a baseline test and since it's been 4 wks could very well be getting conclusive results, as many health professionals believe. Now a little off the subject...Mr. Devine syphillis can also be incurable if you don't have it treated in time.

Just to support a bit what Quem and Normocrazy are talking about this is an official excerpt from the Center for Disease Control:
There are two primary ways that STDs can be transmitted. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), as well as gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomoniasis – the discharge diseases – are transmitted when infected semen or vaginal fluids contact mucosal surfaces (e.g., the male urethra, the vagina or cervix). In contrast, genital ulcer diseases – genital herpes, syphilis, and chancroid – and human papillomavirus are primarily transmitted through contact with infected skin or mucosal surfaces.
No percentage can be absolute when it comes to rate of female-to-male transmission through vaginal sex. But it is estimated that it is still bellow 1% or even less per single exposure. Of course the chances increase with queantity, and the number of partners involved.

Best wishes.
