i have a question about oral thrush and i know "anyone" said that her husband had it. anyone else with info i would like to hear from as well. is it possible to wake up with it in the morning and pill it away then have it just be gone like that or would it most likly stick around. after doing a lot of reading i really feel that i had it on the inside of my cheeks. it fits the description perfectly, except that it is now gone. i don't know what else it could have been.in advane, thanks again for the help....

It was me who said my husband had it. My children also had it when they were babies. It is unlike anything else! Thrush generallt occurs on the tounge and gums, but can affect the cheeks and lips. Usually though, it starts on the tounge or gums and spreads. It is preety painful, from what my husband said, and the way my daughters acted. He was unable to eat. For my kids, when the Dr. showed me, it looked like a bunch of raised up cottage cheese curds, it was difficult to remove and when it did come off, it bled underneath. In infants, and in adults if it is a mild case it will be left untreated. My kids recieved no treatment, but it took about a week and a half to clear up. Their Dr said sometimes it takes awhile for it to go away. It doesnt just come and go. For my husband, who was REALLY sick at the time, he had to have a mouthwash to clear it up.
Causes can be: factors that reduce the natural resistance, such as illness, stress, long-term use of corticosteroids or medications that suppress the immune system, conditions that upset the balance of normal microorganisms in the mouth, use of antibiotics, but it may also occur with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and with the hormonal changes. When HIV is present, thrush is usually severe, reoccuring, and non-responsive to medication.
A Dr. can diagnois thrush easily, so that could be the answer.
If anyone else has opinions, I hope they post them!
