Does anyone have a tip for a brand of Vitamin C that adheres to the Linus Pauling type therapy for lowering cholesterol as in containing L-Lysine & L-Proline along with the C?
I found one brand named 'Heart Plus' but the issue is that it only comes in 250 mg. tablets so you have to take alot to equal 3,000 mg.

Back when Linus Pauling was alive I remember him saying vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid was fine along with L-lysine.
I take 10 grams Vitamin C along with 3 Grams L-lysine daily and have for 10 years. If Linus Pauling had something else other than ascorbic acid I missed it. I tried to take 5 grams of L-lysine but it caused bruising in me. I must say I haven't had a cold, flu, or hay fever after I upped my vitamin C intake to 10 G.

Ellemae do you take yours once or twice a day or do you take them at intervals throughout the day? I'm confused about when to take my vitamin
C. Has it helped your cholesterol taking 10 g a day?

I take my vitamin C through the day. I get the chewable ones and stick them in my pocket so throughout the day I slip them in my mouth. My cholesterol has always been normal.
I do have a friend that was on statins with her LDL in the 1400 range and triglicerides around 800. She just was not able to get them any further down. I did tell her about Vit C & L-lysine.
She went on the 10 G of vitamin C & 5 G of L-lysine. Three months later and another blood test her LDL was 120 and triglcerides 88. Her doctor made the comment I don't want to know what you are doing but keep it up.
That was 2 years ago and she has now slacked off her vitamins. Tired of taking all those pills. Now her last test shows her cholesterol is coming back up.
I really don't think vitimin C alone will reduce cholesterol. I think it is the combination of L-lysine and Vitamin C.

Ellamae, does that mean you take 10,000 mg of Vit C? Can you tell me the name of the chewables you take and the mg? Thanks.

Sorry I haven't looked here for sometime. I hope this is not to long to answer.
I take 500mg chewable vitamin C. During the day I take a total of 20. I get any chewable at the grocery store. I prefer the orange flavored ones.
Again I do not think it is just the vitamin C that lowers Cholesterol but combined with L-Lysine.

Personally I wouldnt chew the absorbic acid type Vitamin C tablets because they are acidic and can erode dental enamel. Some Vitamin C suppliers of the normal tablets which are swallowed, warn consumers to wash their mouth out with water if they happen to chew one for that very reason.
Chewables which are made from Ester-C a vitamin C which is not acidic will prevent dental erosion.

Lysine is available everywhere that sells vitamins/supplements. I use a Vitamin C supplement that has Green tea , Proline and lysine already mixed in. I used to take chewable vitamin C and then to my horror I read in the ingredients that there was hydrogenated vegetable oil in each pill. What a ridiculous thing to do , I assume it was there to enhance the orange flavor. Be careful to read the ingredients and maybe some of these chewables that don't say fat free all have some of this inside them and don't even list it.
