I was recently diagnosed with adult adhd and my Dr switched me from ritalin to concerta, along with my effexor that I have been taking for 18 months. I have found that in the month that I have been switched that I am a bit "out of it" and pretty anxious, a bit weepy and sad... is this normal? Could I need less/more??? a change in my depression/anxiety drug?

Anxiety is not the intended reaction to ADHD meds. The purpose of ADHD meds is to increase focus. Anxiety compounds ADHD attention robbing symptoms.
You should inform your doctor about your reaction.

Did you taper off the Effexor? I had a REALLY bad withdrawal episode because I couldn't afford my drugs. And that was only after 4-5 days of missing it. Effexor is notorious for discontinuation symptoms. Even if that's not it - you should still tell your doc.
Incidentally, for anyone out their who is Canadian (in BC), if you can't afford your anti-depressants, there is a program out there called the 'G' program. After my withdrawal incident, my doctor filled out a form for me and my prescriptions were covered with in a few days!
