Hey everyone,
I just came back from my dentist.. (i am suffering left earaches really bad for the last few weeks) and she found out that the sides have changed in pain... ( validated my earpain complaints.. i dont think she belives me until she does her own moulds)..
she says im a complicated patient but i should be ok in the end... After conducting all these tests all she could do was she has to heighten my splint by ALOT and realign my bite, hoping that it is balance so doesnt crush my jaw on the left side or right side... She said the pain should be gone by like 5 minutes but i was hesistant from the VERY beginning.. my ears ARE still aching... i CANT stop crying .. i LOOK so bad as well.. i dont care about that but im DEPRESSED as now i LOOK SO BAD and my pain is the same..the reason i feel doomed is i can still feel the left side clicking more... when i press on the joint.. the regular clicking is gone ( that went away in April) but the pain wont GO ...
My ears are tired of feeling achey , like they feel worn out in pain!
HELP ME, do you think it will jsut get better... i have no idea what to do .. i cant wait this out any longer.. i just want some relief...:(
What does it sound like is happening..?:(

Oh dear! You sound like you're in excruciating pain, I can read it in the words! I don't know know enough about this to give you much in the way of help. As a last resort, can you get a prescription for pain meds long enough to knock you out and let those overtaxed jaw muscles relax? Maybe that would help somewhat? If your've got a new splint, then it will probably get worse than better for a bit, or at least stay the same until the body adjusts. Especially if it's stretched your jaw into a position far from what it's used to. If you hurt before the new splints, and you're hurting now, I would think the only option in moving forward is to give it a little bit and pay super close attention to any improvements you run across. If you really cannot stand the pain, go back to the dentist or a doctor and get something to ease it. Do not give up. As miserable as it is at times, you have to take charge of your health. There is no way you have an earache or other infection? These things have been ruled out? Have you had a recent MRI or something to check if something is getting pinched/pressed in a new way from before. I'm sorry if these are elementary questions, I really don't know what to ask. But I'm curious what has been looked at besides TMJ.
Please don't give up.

So more treatment there... i have a displaced jaw Disk.......... :(

I do know that thru the last few years with different splints and that my ears have sometimes got better and sometimes worst. I have been told that the ear pain is one of the last things to go. If you think about the adjustments, changing where you joint sits, it causes some imflammation and that is probably what is the main cause of the ear pain , just what I've been told.
Do you grind at night? I hope you are getting some sound sleep. what originally caused your symptoms.
I have a girlfriend who has ground all her front lower teeth down to the pulps, but she never had tmj pain, she wears a night guard and grinds on that too. A tmj denist said that people who grind their teeth take it out on their teeth , and those of us who dont' grind take it out on our joints. He said men usually take it out on their teeth and women on their joints, there does seem to be more women on this board so maybe hes right.
Oh I wish I had a majic wand that could make us all better, would't that be nice. It just makes it so hard when they keep changing our bites and then we have to adapt all over again.
