i am a daughter of two obese parents. and their parents before had weight/health problems, and their parents before as well.
my mom is 53 and already has heart problems and gout from being obese. my dad is obese and is slowing down considerably but still is active in my opinion for his age. my aunt has lung cancer, my grandpa died of a heart attack, and my grandma had onset diabetes. all of this stems from poor eating, unhealthy lifestyle.
so my question is... i am 23... and i have noticed the older i have aged, i seem to gain weight a lot easier and i know this has to be from my crappy genetics. i am a fairly healthy eater. i eat whole grains, no meat except fish, and i stay away from salty, fatty, sugary foods. but still weight seems to come with age. i also work out about 4 times a week.
should i consider a lapband surgery while im still young? i dont know what to do about my future and weight. i am really concerned. i dont want my kids to go through what i am going through with my parents. but how can i keep the weight down? i had an eating disorder in my teen years where i wouldn't eat ANYTHING with fat in it. that was the only time i lost weight. obviously thats just not gonna work for a 23 yr old.
advice...please!
