I had sex with a guy and during sex he figured out that the condom slipped off. So after about 5 min I went to the bathroom and pulled it out from the top of my vagina. Approximately 3 weekkks later I came down with a fever, chills, joint pain, and fatigue. I did not have any swollen lymph nodes or a rash...do african american females usually get the rash? I slept that whole day and at night I took some thera-flu. The next day the fever, chills, joint pain were gone. I still was a little tired during the second day. I am scared that I may have had acute retroviral syndrome. Do you know if the fever in ARS usually last less than 3 days. By the second day I was able to attend class and eat food unlike the first day. I did not have a cough or cold which means that it was most likely not just the common flu and i also felt like this in the end of august which is not flu season. Do you think that this might possibly be ARS? I am worried sick. I wont get tested because I am sooooooo scared. Please help me..any of your expertise would be greatly appreciated

Yes it could be ARS, it could be a host of other virus's. HIV is never to be diagnosed by symptoms alone.

How is not getting tested going to solve anything? Without a test you will worry yourself needlessly. Why don't you ask the guy what his history is and if he has ever been tested? That might calm you down a bit. HIV is not very easy to get. It has to get into the bloodstream for infection to occur. There are far more negative tests than positive ones. At 90 days or so take a test just to put your mind at ease. You will be glad you did.

you have to understand how scary ars is and why i am freaking out. this is not easy to deal with. can you treat ars symptoms with over the counter meds or does everything persists despite your efforts
