I was dx'd back in March of 2006 and my symptoms have been mild. For the past several years though I have had this pain in the right side of my back below my shoulder blade. It almost feels like I desperately need to pop my back or have someone apply pressure to work out a knot. Lately, however, I have had three separate occasions over the last few months of this debilitating pain that shows up suddenly in the same area. It will last for a few minutes and my whole right arm will become weak and ache quite badly. It's excruciating.

Also, I have almost an identical type pain in my left leg that, like the back, has only happened a handful of times but over the course of the past couple of years. The pain will start at the back of my knee and I won't be able to walk. My whole left left from my knee down will almost become paralyzed.

Has anyone else had anything similar to this? I brought up the knee pain to my first neuro before we moved but he blew it off to maybe a possible nerve problem, basically, not a MS issue so he couldn't help.

Huh? Here I was thinking that the nerves are affected, including those in the legs, in some cases of MS.

I'm sure you had the same completely baffled reaction to this first neurologist when he made this statement. I'm hoping for your sake you have a new neurologist who understands MS since you moved.

With that said, I have not personally experienced these symptoms you mention, however I do think it's important, as they continue to show up over a lengthy period now, to your current neuro and your GP.

Txchica, i have had something similar to what you describe in my left shoulder, under the blade...it hurts unbelieveably and I have been trying to find relief.....accupuncture hasnt helped- PT hasnt helped and interestingly enough its on the same side as my numb and tingling hand.

My last MRi of my Cspine showed buldging of the disc and stenosis...my Neuro was always telling me it was NOT MS related and it appears he was right...even though it is definately feeling like nerve pain. The Neurosurgeon I went to see tells me eventually Ill need back surgery but in the meantime, bite the bullet..he also says this can cause leg pain and muscle spasms..

Have you had that part of your back checked? Even a CT scan might show something...

I did have a MRI of my spine back in Oct. '03 which didn't show anything. I have not mentioned these symptoms to this new neuro so I will and I'll see what he says.

Thanks!
