I posted this as a reply to another topic but wanted to post again here....
Went to the doctor Sunday because I had thrush reappear this weekend after week of treatment. (I was drinking alcohol again) I told nurse I was freaking out since HIV test was done and didn't even want the results, just a new treatment for the thrush. She told me that all my tests came back and I WAS NEGATIVE! She spoke with the doctor and he said he couldn't explain why I got the thrush back but that thrush wouldn't happen until the later stages of HIV and test most definetlywould have shown up positive if thrush was related to HIV.
He just restarted the treatment and said to come back in a week if the thrush came back again...but maybe I just wasn't on it long enough. (I was drinking alcohol again this weekend)
Oddly, the other symptoms I was experiencing are now gone!!! HA HA
BUT...why am I not totally convinced that I am negative???Why are we ALL not convinced we are negative when the test says so? EVERYONE in here.....once the doctor mentions HIV or we start looking up on the web about the disease we go nuts!!WHY????? ARE WE ALL NUTS?????

I know how you feel.. I am not at all satisfied with my negative result. I was tested 6 months after a possible exposure through performing oral sex. My results were negative and I was happy for a few days and now, I just dont know what to do. I'm literally driving myself crazy! I'm 20 yrs old and I'm going to the doctor this week to hopefully get put on some anti-depressants or SOMETHING TO HELP ME!! I don't know why we're like this but I don't like it!

Take the negative and move on. Thrush is more common than you think. Stress, sunburn, antibiotics, corticosteroids, STRESS, need I say more. Finally after feeling negative (6 month test neg) my oral symptoms are leaving. I was getting thrush and vag yeast every month. Yuck. Take some diflucan for 2 weeks and get on with life. You are ok.

Dear scaredmom. I think part of the answer is in your user name. We worry about the what if's. Then focus on our family, spouses, children, significant others and friends. What it will do to them and us. Stress can do damage to the body, mentally and physically. I am happy to hear of your results.
