It is too bad that our government is so puritanical, and believes that it can prevent prostitution by making it illegal. If they would legalize it and regulate it the way many European countries do, than there would not be as many health problems like HIV infection. No John has ever contracted HIV from a licensed prostitute in Amsterdam. The same holds true for the legal brothels in Nevada USA.

I really don't think prostitutes are to blame for the AIDS problem in the US. They make up a very small percentage of HIV transmission.
90% of child sexual abuse and murder are committed by family members. Yet parents constantly live in fear of the stranger who comes and snatches their kids out of the backyard.
HIV transmission is more likely to occur through a one night stand, a boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife rather than a romp with a prostitute.
I agree that prostitution should be legal. But I don't think it will solve our AIDS problem, because it's not where the real problem lies. The common assumption is that only dirty people or "whores" can have HIV. The truth is that anyone can have it.
