View Full Version : About the 3 month window

quickquestion1

does anyone know what is considered 3 months? 3 months by weeks is 4 weeks, wich is equal to 84 days. by days 3 months is 90 days. so wich is it, 84 days or 90 days, or are those few days REALLY going to make that much diffrence?

(I had an 80 day test, wich is why i am curious)

if you call the cdc the only thing they can say that is exactly 3 months is if you take the date of your last possible exposure and add 3 calendar months from it. so if your exposure was on 6/1 then 9/1 would be three months.
most clinics use 12 weeks as the window period. there is not much difference between a few days in terms of test results but if you feel you will have any remaining doubt then wait until you are confident that you tested after three months.

ok, I had one time contact with a guy (im a girl) and I dont know his status, and there was no ejaculation, and I had a negative 80 day test. Is that close enough to the window period? I havent had any symptoms that I know of. Ive been healthy. There arent a lot of HIV cases in our town, its pretty small. I didnt question the results untill I got this cold I cant kick. Its been almost 2 years. Please advice!

most experts will agree that the difference in 80 to 84 days is minimal. it's a lot different than 4 days earlier in the window period.
your risk was pretty low. if you still feel you need to test than you should so you can give yourself the chance to officially move on from this incident.
