Is it possible for Gingivitis to be a early sign of HIV infection? Has anyone heard of this? My gums are not painful or bleeding, but they do look to be receding just a bit. I have read that gingivitis can be one of the first signs, and I'm a bit scared. What do you guys think?

I hope not b/c 2 months after a possible exposure, I went to the dentist and he said I have an early stage of gingivitis. I was tested 6 months after exposure and my test was negative so the whole gingivitis thing as a symptoms adds another worry. I really dont think you start getting dental problems til later in the disease... does anyone else know about this?

50% of the population has Gingivitis. NEVER use symptoms as an indicator for HIV. Seek medical attention so you can get scientific facts about your HIV status. Test 3 months after risky exposures!
