Hi everyone, I have developed a headache the is just awful. I cant get any relief & I can feel it stemming from the neck. I have had it approx. 5 days & the only relief I get is putting pressure in my neck with icing, like when lying down. I am assuming this is some kind of cervical headache. I would get this if the PT would work on my neck but it always would go away like the next day, but this is getting worse & going no where. Nothing relieves it as far as meds. I am not sure how to get rid of it. Last bad one I had to get the trigger point & dont want to go there, especailly feeling sick like I do with what ever else I have.
I has cervical ESIs done Aug 6, my sister in law wonders if its linked to the ESIs, but if so why now? Anyone experiance anything like this?
The headache itself consumes the entire head, even the eyes hurt to keep them open at times, feels like my neck cant hold my head up & I have to kind of keep my head down, like hunch over so my head is not held straight up. Pretty much cant lift my head up. Going into GP today because of a sore throat that developed last 2 days, cant swallow, so I will see what they say about the neck/head. I would appreciate any opinions. Thanks Sammy

Oh how I feel for you..I have suffered with these types of headaches for 30 years, no kidding....after going through physical therapy, chiropractic, traction, massage therapy, trigger point injections, epidurals, etc. and seeing every kind of expert out there, they all said I had a very bad neck, bulging discs, etc. arthritis, etc. I also get nauseous, vertigo and feel like there is a hot poker stabbing me in the neck and the pain goes up into my head and sometimes feels like my eye is bulging out. About ten years ago I took my 10 yr. old daughter to the ENT thinking her headaches were sinus headaches and after a sinus scan, etc. he concurred they were migraines and when I told him about all my NECK pain and the head pain he said they were migraines..So I went to my GP and told her what he said and after 20 years of pain (at that time) my GP said she would give me Imitrex for migraines and if it worked when I had that neck pain, then it was a true migraine...One week later it started up in my neck and I thought I was going to throw up from the pain and my head didn't even hurt yet, but I took the Imitrex and within an hour it got better and ten years later I feel like a commercial because it has changed my life. Mind you I still have lots of neck trouble, but FINALLY the doctors I have seen since realize that I am getting migraines starting in my NECK from a PHYSICAL cause, my NECK and thankfully at least when it gets too bad I can take Imitrex to help get through. I hope this might help you!

I almost forgot to tell you that I am 51 years old and spent the biggest part of my mid 30's to mid 40's lying on a bag of ICE and taking muscle relaxers that only mildly dulled the pain...I don't know how I raised my poor kids..I was in terrible pain most of their childhood and half asleep too and it took a very smart ENT to figure it out over all the experts. Good luck to you.

vegas, Oh my, that is a shame. I feel so bad for you. I have been in pain appox. 4 yrs & let me tell you I feel cheated. I cant imagine what you felt.
I am in PM (pain management) now & thus far this doctor does not seem like he would leave me in to much pain, hope not anyway. I just get sick of it all at times. The headache seems to have improved as the fever goes down & after the injection or toradol(sp?). But I do get them & I just cant function at all with headaches like that. I can feel the neck is involved so I am bringing it up to my PM next visit. Thanks so much for taking time out to reply. Sammy
