Hi, Im new on these boards so just thought Id say hello! Before I start can I appologise for any spelling mistakes you will see below.

For a number of months Ive had dull lower back ache, travelling in cars or just sitting at an desk. The pain is mostly on the right had side, but these past few weeks it has been constant. Its not unbareable just annoying. Also when Im in bed and turn onto my left side, I get a sharp pain in my front right side, almost near my appendix. Ive had appendix problems in the past and I know its not that because appendix pain is unbarable. This pain is just discomforting. Also for about a week I keep having headace's when I look up. The pain is almost in my eye rather than a normal headache. I also somtimes have hot flushes just out of blue.

Does any of this seem like it could be kidney stones or any kind of kidney problem? I am anemic and have had Costochondritis since January this year so it could be a number of things but I just thought Id ask for some advice as Id much prefer alternative remedies than the doctors.

Cheers!
Lindsay.

Hi Lindsay

Sorry it is late, I have just found the site. The information I am going to give you is from my experience and you may want to keep it in mind. If you have kidney stones you will know because the pain can be extreemly excrutiating.

The fact you have mentioned Costochondritis as well reminds me of my condition which took many years to discover. I had severe chest pains with no real reason, no trauma no infection. I also started to have a dull pain in the left side at first was annoying but over the years became severe. I thought it was my Kidney but test showed otherwise. I lived with it for many years and symptoms became so varied I didn't know what to think. I had symptoms for heart failure, irritable bowel syndrome, lung problems, chronic
present with one. It was only when the abcess burst did they find out what was wrong. I had a Richter's hernia and an abcess grew behind it.

It can only guess it had been growing all these years throwing up these varied symptoms. I nearly gave up in the end as I felt doctors and hospitals didn't believe me. It was only when I had private health care we discovered it and only then it burst because they did a apendectomy (using key hole surgery).

They say Richter's hernia are rare in women and even more rare in men but I still had one. They are overlooked by nearly ever doctor and are only discovered by accident. There is no test or scan that can identify a Richter's hernia, only a Laparoscopy can, this can also look to see if your appendix is normal.

A Richter's hernia is when your intestin grows into a hole in your pelvic wall.

I hope you have solved you problem by now if not I hope this is of help.

Mark

Ya deffinately not kidney stones!! Could be a cyst or something more serious like the other post mentioned. You need to see your doctor for tests in case it is something like that, it could be growing or worsening, theres nothing you can do alternatively for this other then manage the pain and discomfort.

I beg to differ guys I had a staghorn calculus in my l kidney that filled the whole kidney and would have never known it had I not developed infection that spread to my colon....the reason being is that the kidney does not have pain receptors inside and that it has to get worse for there to be any pain...I was told that I had had this for years....mine probally started 20 odd years ago with a kidney infection that never cleared up...there are 2 types of stones as well that I know of perhaps more....my advice go to the dr and get a cat scan done preferably one with contrast...that is how mine was located...

actually nothing has to get "worse" for pain to begin. with kidney stones the pain begins when the ureter is obtructed by the stone causeing dialation, also with the spasms of the little muscles in there as they try and push the kidney stone out. there are MAANNNYYY types of stones. Ive never heard of headaches and hot flashes having ANYTHING to do with kidney stones so you deffinately need to get to your doctor to see whats really going on
