Hi Kimmy.

I have several questions. What type of HPV did/does the exgirlfriend have? high risk or low risk? Secondly, how does his doctor know he is fine? If the exGF exposed him to low risk HPV (that can cause genital warts) I can understand the doctor determining that he is fine, BUT if the ex GF has/had high risk HPV then there is no FDA approved way to check if a man has been exposed to it.

If his ex-girlfriend has the non-wart kind of hpv, what was his doctor checking for that he would say your bf is fine? He could still be a carrier.

I think it's pretty safe to say that EVERYONE is at risk. If you're sexually active, the unfortunate fact is that HPV is more of a "when" than an "if." Fortunately, most people are able to clear the virus on their own without experiencing major problems. Keep up with your paps, stay healthy, and you should be fine.
