Hi I'm wondering if anyone thinks that I have carpal tunnel.
The main thing I have noticed is that my hands don't work as well as they used to. I find it hard to do small things like put in my earrings or turn the page of a book. I also find it difficult to open jars or bottles because my hands feel so weak. It actually hurts if I try to open them. I do have some pain though not a lot. I would describe it as a dull ache in my fingers and wrist. My thumb on my right hand has also started shaking for no reason like i have a trapped nerve or something. I also sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with numb, tingly hands like I have been lying on them.
Thanks for any help.

I do hope that you are going to see a good orthopedic doctor or a nuero doc. Right now, your symptoms can lend themselves to many diagnosis and prognosis. Guessing what is wrong is scary all by itself. Where nerves are concerned in your hands and wrist, you must seek a knowledgeable assessment. I have cubital tunnel (ulnar nerve), which also affects the hand, as would the median nerve that is the culprit for carpal tunnel and then there is the radial nerve ... Your doc will hopefully locate the origin of your symptoms, whether it is in your wrist (wrist entrapement) or further up the arm or even coming from your neck. Waking up with numb hands and arms is one of the weirdest things I have ever experienced. Best of everything to you as pursue an answer. It is better to know than to guess what is going on.

Kim,
Yup, sounds like you are at the beginning of carpal tunnel syndrome. Don't wait until it's too late like I did. I had carpal tunnel symptoms for 5 years before I had surgery. I had a relapse after surgery and I'm in pain again. When you start dropping one item (or more) every day without trying, then it's time to get tested with an EMG test.
