c-norman-0514 09-12-2002, 05:34 PM does any one know any good diets to lose like 35-40 pounds? ------------------ cmn2005 Sponsor Lady^ 09-13-2002, 10:30 AM Eat less, excercise more. That's the proper way to lose weight and keep it off. MissieMouse 09-16-2002, 12:43 AM Lady, I disagree with you. The reason why I disagree with you, at least in my case, is that it doesn't work for me. I can, and have, tried many diets out there, low fat/low calorie....low calorie/high fat.....high calorie/low fat....Weight Watchers.....High protien....200 calories a day.....exercise exercise exercise....but it seem(s/ed) like nothing I did worked and instead of losing weight, I'd gain weight....I've had my thyroid checked many times.....so, who knows what the deal is.... Anyway....the one diet that I have found that has helped me......well, it works for me for a little bit, then it stops....is the Low Carbohydrate diet....(Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution).... My boyfriend has lost 45 pounds and I am bringing up the rear at 25. (But, men lose weight (statistically) faster than women). So, my recommendation is cutting your carbohydrates. It may be one option you haven't tried before....and it may be the solution. Just a thought. Do you have any insights into what (what foods, what habits) contributes to your weight problem? I too have found cutting carbs to be extremely helpful. I follow Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Programme. It does not cut carbs are dramatically as Atkins, but is the same general idea. Lady^ 09-16-2002, 11:36 AM What everyone has said is true, but no matter what type of diet you choose the bottom line is that in order to lose 1 pound you have to burn 3,500 calories above and beyond the number of calories needed to maintain your current weight. You can do this by lowering the amount of calories you eat, increasing the number of calories you burn, or ideally, combining both. c-norman-0514 09-16-2002, 12:24 PM my parents tried the low carb. diet a couple of years ago. evidently they were hooked on the carbs because it worked for me, but now i can't find it. it's kinda like Atkin's, but it's one where you're on 12 days & off 2. i really liked it, but the grapefruit juice was a little hard to do during school. if any one can come up with a moderation to this that would help a lot. thanks. ------------------ cmn2005 auntjudyg 09-16-2002, 06:56 PM Originally posted by Lady^: . . . but no matter what type of diet you choose the bottom line is that in order to lose 1 pound you have to burn 3,500 calories above and beyond the number of calories needed to maintain your current weight. Is anyone reputable still pushing this line? I thought enough had been written from various angles that it had disappeared. andreaphilip3 09-19-2002, 10:28 AM norman, it sounds luke you are describing one of those cycle things. if you alreasdy know what to do, why do you need a name for it, ya know? go for it! do 5 days on, 2 off. good luck http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif |
