I have occasionsal stabbing pains in the anal rectal area like a spasm or intense stabbing ( about 4 times a week ) which lasts for a few seconds. No blood seen, stools seem fairly normal and no real change in habits ( about once every two days ) . I also get a sensation of false bowel movements like I need to use the toilet but dont need to ( this occurs every now and again ). but there is a fair amount of gas. MY GP has invesitgated for other reasons, he did a PSA whcih was normal and the DRE to check prostate. I have recently had a slipped disc and back pain ( now much better ) which seems to coincide with the onset of these symptoms including inceases in urinary need. I was diagnosed with an anal hemerroids three MOnths ago but there was never any blood only itching.

I am male aged 45 years

Can anyone identify with this problem

many thanks

tony

Sounds like IBS to me. I get that too. I was diagnosed with IBS a few years ago.

I think you need to start taking a water soluble fiber supplement like Metamucil. It willbulk up your stool and make your BMs more regular as well as complete.
