Hello all....I am new here and I was wondering if anybody else experiences this pain in the mornings....I was diagnosed with FM a few years ago...for the last few weeks, I have been waking up about 4:30 am in so much pain, around my sides and back.....it feels like somebody is taking my waist and wringing it out like a washcloth....i have a hard time going back to sleep....around that time i usually take a pillow and put it in between my legs...i can barely move from my back to my sides....i usually fall back to sleep for about an hour than I have to get up because i just cant get comfortable...when I get up, It is very uncomfortable just to walk to the kitchen...the bottom of my feet hurt also....i take 2 advils, and within an hour or so the pain starts to subside....i have been feeling this for the last 2 weeks, EVERY morning....does anybody else experience anything like this? I am going to call my doctor in the morning and make an appointment....i just dont know if this is a longgggg flareup or if it is something else....any answers would be greatly appreciated :) Thank you! Bobbie

Bobbi yes this happens to me every morning. I have had fibro since '91
a host of other aches and pains too. I am on Lyrica for pain but as I get older it seems harder to manage this fibro.

Yes, this happens to me in the mornings. Now, that the weather has gotten chillier here in Maine, I am getting more sore when I get walking or try walking down the stairs. I have a harder time with the stairs, and it is harder for me to get going, like it takes me 2 hours to get moving.
This summer, I had a break, I was not as sore getting up, and not as sore getting up from a chair everytime, it is changing, as I feared, and coming on again. This is my first year with fibro, and between that and migraines it is kicking my butt. I have pain everyday, and each day is harder right now. I am on my 5th day straight of migraines. I know what you are talking about as far as the sides, and the pain like wringing it like a washcloth.
Welcome to the boards. This is wonderful place to get help, and advice.

Hello,
Yes. I've been waking up with headache and nausea and neck and back muscle spasms and pain. If it weren't for the fact that I have to get up and take care of my cats, I would stay in bed.
The pain seems to get better as the day goes on, then it comes back late in the day, probably because I'm exhausted. I just can't get comfortable. Took Vicodin, which didn't help.
I wish I had some sort of answer for you. I guess one thing to do is to try to schedule our periods of activity for the times we know we'll feel better.
It does help if I force myself to get moving in the mornings, though I have to fight to do that.

Thank you all for answering my question....here I am going into my 3rd week....every morning is the same....its so hard to get my morning started feeling like this :( I think I will give my doctor a call today and find out how they can help me....I've read that alot of you are taking Lyrica for the pain....does everybody gain weight that is on this? I really don't need to gain anymore weight but I am willing to try anything at this point. Im a little nervous about what they can do for the pain, because i was on vicodin and oxy for a few years because of an injury I had in my lower back and I made up my mind about 6 months ago, that I didnt want to take pain meds anymore, so I weaned myself off of them....that was very tough and I don't want to go through that again....but what if I can't get my pain under control? What other options do I have? I can't imagine having to wake up in the mornings forever with this pain....or never having the pain go away! It makes me sad to read what alot of you are going through....I hope this isnt the beggining of what I have to look forward to. Bobbie

I feel terrible in the mornings as well. I take a hot shower as soon as i wake up and that gets me a little looser and able to get ready for my day. Every little bit helps!

Mornings are Still the worst for me too. :dizzy::dizzy:
I found in the winter times though, It helps to take a warm bath or shower BEFORE I go to bed.

It's always hard for my to get out of bed and loosen up. I'm soooo stiff in the mornings. Warm showers do help a bit. It gets easier once I get going, but then later in the afternoons I tend to stiffen up again. That's when I get a lot of achiness/pains.

Thats exactly the way it for me. In fact I joke with boss (my hours are 8:30am to 5pm) I tell him all the time, "don't expect much work to get done before 11am and after 5pm" LOL Scary thing is though that is the truth.
