Hi everybody! I asked for and received a script for Meridia, but I'm kinda nervous taking it. The doc who prescribed it knows my health and history and meds, and apparently he thought it was safe enough.

But I want to hear from people who have taken it. Anyone?

Thanks, and have a wonderful, peaceful night.

hello. I am currently taking meridia 10mg everyday. I lost 7 lbs in the first month and had some annoying side effects during the first week or two. I was very jittery, couldn't sleep and my stomach was queezy. I did not have much of an appetite but now after my second month, I am starving all the time just like before the medication started. I had no elevation in my blood pressure but I feel occasional palpitations especially at night. In my opinion, the med isn't worth it!!!

Hi there,
A friend of mine was on Meridia and was not too thrilled with it. Not only is it very expensive, but she did not lose much weight. She is about 100 pounds over weight and lost pretty quickly in the first few weeks, but then it just stopped. I am taking Adipex-P 37.5 mg and it works great for me. It makes me a little jittery, but I space them out every other day. It is around $46 for generic but I have lost 43 pounds in about 6 months. It gives me energy that's for sure but I have to take it early so I am not up all night. All I can say is it helped me a lot and my doctor is very leary of all diet meds and he prescribed it. So I guess it's "safe" Just my 2 cents. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif

Dolphin, I would be carefull of what you take. Adipex-P is one part of the fen/phen drug that caused alot of us bad heart damage.

A friend of mine got a prescription for MEridia last year after having her baby, she was maybe 15 pounds heavier than she wanted to be, I can't believe her doctor would prescribe it for her! Anyway, it was ungodly expensive(her insurance didnt cover it) and it didint do anything for her except give her diarrhea

I took Meridia for three months, lost 50 pounds, with absolutely no side effects. It's expensive yes, but so was all the fast food I was eating.

i started on meridia last year...took it thru june 2002...was working with a personal trainer..i lost a few lbs a month without exercise..5 or more with. stopped the meridia in june and tried wellbutron in september. didnt like it..i felt i was hungry too much. the meridia took the cravings for foods away..i felt like i didnt want to eat when i had to...so, i am back on it and it helps....no more trainer, too expensive, but i know that exercise and diet are the keys. no sugar soda, no caffine..that makes you want to eat......i sleep fine, no jitters, i am on the 15mg. i lost aobut 40 lbs since last year...i am now working on getting the surgery..i have just under 100 lbs to go....
