I am just 10 days post-op but I feel I must post to tell everyone searching this site pre-op that some people do have positive things to say about their surgery.

I chose to have c4-5 and c5-6 fused after almost a year of numbness and pain in my left hand and arm. I could tell, right out of the recovery room that I was better. The only pain I had was from the surgery site and a little problem swallowing for about a week. I refused the heavy pain meds and took extra strenght Tylenol even in the hospital.

The neck brace is a drag, but other than that I feel great! No pain at all today.

Make your decision on surgery, choose a surgeon you can talk to and trust and go for it!

I'm glad yours was a successful one and thanks for the info. I am heading down that road (surgery on C6/7) and this helps a lot. GOOD LUCK

Wow, Sundance! I am both envious and very, very happy for you. My neck surgery in April was also successful, but in other ways than yours. I did not have a return of lost functions nor find myself fully pain-free, but the goal of my surgery was to prevent further damage (I was at serious risk for some major bad joo joo). In that, mine was successful -stopped my 'deterioration' from going further. I'd rather have it as good as you, but am happy to hear that you went above par with your surgical success. I hope you enjoy the return to 'you' fully. Big-time congrats to you!!!
