View Full Version : Thighs are weak and painful

Anybody ever get a specific flare in their upper legs? It's been going on for about 2 months, my thighs feel as though I just climbed 10 sets of stairs. You know how that makes your thighs burn? Well, add shaky weakness in them, as if they can't hold you upright, and that describes it fairly well. It's always there at 3 or 4, but sometimes pain escalates to 8. Never worse than that, so far.
Went for a drive on the weekend (actually a ride, H drove), which was manageable, but when we wanted to get out to stroll on the beach, check out some shops, or get an ice cream, I was a mess. (and I love ice cream -- lol)
Any ideas, let me know?
Wishing you peace and comfort,

Use a wheelchair until the flare is over??? I sympathize!

Kirstee - Thanks, I thought of that too. But I was really scouting to see if anyone had experienced that with fibro. I've had fibro for 25+ years, and never had this specific kind of pain with weakness before. Somehow this feels "different."
To be honest, the wheelchair idea scares the heck out of me - always been able to move under my own power, ya know?
Wishing you peace and comfort,
Paddy

paddy...i've had fibro a long time also..right now i am going thru a flareup really bad in the thigh and upper leg. it is like a constant ache...with weak muscles and heavy feeling. also, when i get this...which is quite often...i get a few lumps high on just the outside area right side of thigh. these lumps are sore to the touch...and also spasm pain daily.
i have tried heat and ice..neither help...i guess it just has to run it's course.

hope yours gets better soon...take care, bevann

Bevann -thanks. So glad to hear someone else has experienced this. All new to me. BTW, I've spent many winters in Cape Coral, love the area. Used to take yoga at the Seniors' Centre down by the old yacht club. We didn't go last year for first time in 15 years, hoping to get back there this coming winter.
I've had this thigh thing for about 6 weeks, it can finish any day now. :(
Thanks again.
Wishing you peace and comfort,
Paddy
