I am 13 and weigh over 145 lbs. I don't look obese, or even fat, just a little bit chubby. I eat pretty OK and excercise, but why do I weigh so much? http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/round.gif

Chelle1977 01-06-2003, 12:22 PM 145? Is that a typo? 145 is NOT heavy at all. Esp. if you're 5'4" or taller. Chelle1977 01-06-2003, 12:24 PM Also, its doubtful that at 145 you could be "obese", overweight maybe, but not obese. At 13, you are still developing. You have probably not reached your adult height yet. If you eat ok and exercise, then you will probably notice a loss in weight or a gain in height before very long. Don't worry too much. G9r 01-12-2003, 10:52 PM what about being 5 10 at age 17 and weighing 250!!! how can that not be extreme obesity aggiefan 01-20-2003, 12:35 AM What is your height? thats sounds like a good weight to me. Just eat right and enjoy life. thin isnt the key healthy is good luck and god bless http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/round.gif Lisa tamethot 01-31-2003, 11:00 AM my daughter is 13-5'6, 187 lbs. she would love to be 145. she doesn't look that big though either, cause she is very athletic i think. she does have an eating problem though. she sneaks food and just loves junk foods. i have to actually hide all the snacks or she will eat them all. is this a disorder??? she hides food and is almost uncontrollable in her eating habits. last year, she decided to lose the weight, so she ate a salad with lemon at her lunch, chicken breast and rice with vegetable at supper and light snack. stuck to it for about two months and lost 30 lbs. now she seems like she can control anything that goes into her mouth. tessatessa 03-12-2003, 02:55 PM When I was in highschool I weighed 140 lbs. (I'm 5'6") and I thought I was overweight because I was a strong athletic girl and I weighed more than everyone else in my gym class (except for one girl that was over 200 lbs.) My gym teacher - a man - actually had us weigh ourselves as part of the class so it was very public and I remember being humiliated at being the second highest in the class. Since then I'm come to know what truly being overweight is and I feel sorry for the little girl that didn't appreciate what she had - a healthy athletic body in great shape. The poster that said 145 is not overweight if you're at least 5'4" is absolutely right! Relax and enjoy your life and your young healthy body. To the poster that mentioned their daughter sneaking food, I can share that although I didn't have problems with obesity until I was an adult and had babies, I ALWAYS had a terrible problem with compulsive eating, eating in secret, sneaking and craving. I hope your daughter has managed to find a way to handle her cravings. For myself I finally had gastric bypass surgery because my physical state was just too out of control to exercise. So now my food is severely restricted and I can exercise some control over what and how much I put in my mouth and I'm so grateful for that. camden 03-25-2003, 01:52 AM It should not matter what she weighs! If she does not think she looks fat then she is perfect!!! I think any 13 year old who only thinks she is chubby is doing pretty good! Most girls her age are obsesed with their weight even if they weigh next to nothing! Dragon; You exercise and eat ok! You go girl. Most girls your age are either starving themselves or eating junk food. |
