have you ever had your thyroid levels tested?
FREE T-3??? and FREE T-4??? T.S.H. levels alone don't tell the whole story and if a Doctor tells you any different he needs to be FIRED!!!

Have you been trying 4 mths? Do you have regular cycles? I've been thru 3 years if infertilty & hx of losses and was finally able to have a child after treating with a reproductive endocrinologist. I started off my treatments at 276 lbs, highest wt w/pg was 325, now 280 (lost 6 lbs this past week).

It was extremely hard to gain that 50 lbs when pg, most of it was swelling though and it all fell off except for 10 lbs. I think losing wt while trying to ttc is a good idea, but just be sure to not deprive yourself of vitamins. You may want to go ahead and take some over the counter prenatals. Folic acid is very important.

Good luck to you!

I am also overwight and trying to get pregnant. Check into a homeopathic doctor and the product called Thyrosol. It supports your thyroid gland and aids in the t3/t4 conversion which is your energy. Since I started taking it two months ago it has regulated my metabolism, hormones, thyroid, and I feel better than I have in years. I also lost 7 inches without dieting and no longer crave carbs and sweets as much. I am also on gluco factors which helps if you have PCOS. CHeck into Electro Dermal Screening. It is wonderful!!!

Friend & Kantoa-

May I ask a personal question? What did your doctors say about your trying to get pregnant at your present weights? I just saw a new OB/Gyn this week, and she recommended losing weight before I tried, do to increased risk of...well...just about everything! She did say that she's helped obese women to conceive, though. I'm 35, and my clock's ticking. I'm afraid that if I wait too long, I'm going to miss out! Are you taking any special precautions before or during pregnancy? Just curious.

Best of luck!

catndogma, my dr doesnt ever say much about my weight. Im 27 just so you know and ive known many obese ladies who have had healthy babies(i work in a preschool)Personally i think it takes longer to concieve (this is month 5) and there a few more risks such a diebetes and chance of low birth rate. I say go for it live your life but i am no dr!

Ive never liked treadmills but this one inclines so i dont have to take many steps, just steep ones. (burns 400 cal in 30 min)i now wiegh288.

I just want to say to all the BBW out there that you can get pregnant and have a healthy baby!! i am 5'6" and weight 230. I am currently 16 weeks and 5 days pregnant and am so excited. I do have a few fall backs since I am overweight. I do not have gestational diabetes thank goodness but I am not showing and I am worried about later complications but a baby is all I have wanted for a couple of years. My husband and I just purchased a house and we decided we were ready. It only took us 2 months and I am not bragging I just want you all to know that there is NO reason you can not have healthy children. I defiantely agree that shoudl take a vitamin with folic acid in it and start taking it before you get pregnant! It really helps with preventing certain birth defects. I wish you all that want a child all the luck and I am praying for you!! there is hope and if it is ment to be, then you will conceive!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I also wanted to tell all you women who are overweight and trying to conceive. When I got pregnant with my first I was 220 and had a health baby boy with no complications in my pregnancy or in the birth. When I got pregnant three years later I was 240 and had a health baby girl. No problems either. With my first I got pregnant in the first month, with my second I got pregnant after five months. There is no reason why over weight women can not have a heathy pregnancy and birth. Children are a blessing. We are going to be trying for our third in the summer, and at present am on low carb diet and taking vitamins and folic acid. I wish you all the best ladies. Also my friend had a baby girl and she was also very overweight. No problems with pregnancy and birth. Keep smilin girls!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
