Hello everybody of this great forum :),
I'm french (that's why, first I would like to apologize for my grammar and ortograph) and like you I suffer about fibromyalgia but the problem is that this disease is not really recognized by the doctors in France and when we contract this disease we are alone : You have to go to specialists who diagnostic this ans then leave you with your fibromyalgia because you don't interest them and tell you that there is nothing to help you efficiently ! And there's no forum, no information about this problem. Fortunately I understand english !
That's why I register me in this forum to share experiences with you all and to have somebody who can understand me REALLY ! I'm lucky because my doctor knows this disease and send me by precaution to see a rheumatologist in order to eliminate any rheumatic problem.
For the moment I'm really in pain : My back, my arms and my shoulders are killing me today as if I made weight lifting all yesterday and I'm so tired and parecetamol is not efficient what are your method to support the pain ?
It's sometimes hard to support it alone and a large majority of french people (including doctors) think that this disease is above all psychological (in your mind).
Thank you for sharing with me your experience and "little secrets" to support this as the best as you can and thank you for helping me to not feel alone with this disease anymore.
I hope being understood my english is limited (thank you for being indulgent)

Hi, and welcome to the boards.
First of all, your English is wonderful. You should be proud of yourself for knowing 2 languages.
Thinking that Fibromyalgia is all in a persons head seems to be a common thought around the world. It sure is where i live anyways. Infact one person told me "it's all a matter of mind over matter" in other words i should be able to ignore it.???? if felt like pushing her down the stairs and tell her to ignore that.
Sorry but, sitauations like that leaves a person bitter.
Luckily, we have both found a special place to come to, and that's here.
you will find tons of support, answers, and laughs, here.
So ask away!
Gentle hugs

Hey Frenchy Girl :)
A couple of things everyone with fibro should have are a heating pad, medication for when the pain gets really bad, a hobby to take your mind off of your illness, and friends who will listen and support you (online friends count:)! )
Read the posts and you will find that a majority of the people here really know and study fibromyalgia. We are all constantly searching for the things that make us feel better. Keep your chin up !

Dear Sherryrenee and fibro hurts,
Thanks for your support and listening. I know that I can find help here that's why I'm here with people who suffer and know this ilness as I do and It's really helpfull : That's what I looked for since months and months but without internet (as there's nothing for that in France) It wasn't possible. Now I have internet and I think you will have to do with my presence as often as it necessary ;)(lol).
Fortunately I have 3 wonderful children who help me to "take my mind off with pain and fibro matters" but as I am housewife and I have 2 babies It's sometimes hard when the pain reaches is paroxism : I sometimes feel that I am a bad mother because sometimes I would loveto be all alone in calm and nobody to care but me only me. But I know If they were not there I would not have something to help me to support and forget fibro.
Today I suffer a little bit less than yesterday but drugs are not really efficient for the moment I do, as you all do, with it and I have just to be patient.
Here in France children go back to school with all to preparate for parents that 's why fibro has not choose the best moment to remind me its presence :D(lol)
Take care of you :angel:and I hope meeting you again on the boards.

Orelisa - for more info about symptoms, check out the post listed at the very top of our message page called Fibromyalgia Disease Information Archive. Lots of detail there about the disease, it has been compiled by board members and stored there for people like yourself doing research about fibro.
Hope this helps, :)
Paddy

Bonjour Orelisa,
J'etudie le Francais quand j'etais une fille, mais j'ai oublie beaucoup! J'aime parlez Francais mais j'ais besoins d'aide.
Hopefully what I said was;
I studied French when I was a young girl, but I've forgotten a lot. I love to speak French but I need help!
Bienvenue to the Health Boards. Your English is superb. No one here will have any trouble understanding you.
First of all, I think you need to get your pain managed better. Your doctor should be able to prescribe some medication that will help your pain. I do not know what types of options for this you have in France, but I urge you to find out what might be available to treat your pain.
I have also noticed an impact on my pain when I eat certain foods, especially sugar, but sometimes other things that I know are irritants to my system, like milk, tomatoes and corn. I also find that if I am very active one day, I usually feel worse the for the next two or three days.
Je suis heureuse de faire votre connaissance (nice to meet you). I hope to hear more from you on these boards, and I also hope you start to feeling better soon.
Bon chance!

Merci TexMom85 (thank you),
Like you my english is a school one but I made journeys in England which helped me to improve. But go back to the subject :
I know that my pain need to be managed better but If in France this Desease is recognized (recently) a lot of doctors don't care about this problem because they think that fibro is a psychological desease due by nervous breakdown. I'm in a little region of France where this matter is rare and medication I have is not really efficient.
That's why your information about foods is precious for me because it can help me to managed better the illness. And that's what I look for here.
What do you think about tea and cofee ? I don't drink cofee but I love tea and I've been told that It's not recommanded.
Ravie de faire votre connaissance également TexMom85 (Nice to meet you too) and thank for your help
Thank you for the link Paddy55 I will go there and have a look.

Nice to meet you Oralisa. I agree you need to find something for the pain. Preferably something with an analgesic [takes swelling down]. In Canada we can buy something called tylenol #1 over the counter. Meaning you can buy without a prescription but you have to ask the pharmisist for it. It has a small amount of codine in it and I use it for everyday use.I have toradol and tylenol#3 for bad days but if I'm out I can get some relief with 3 tylenol1s but NO more. And don't let your pain get away on you. The worse you let it get, the harder it is to break. That's enough for now. There is lots of help and support here.

Welcome Orelisa, your english is wonderful. I have always wanted to learn another language, but latin was what I study in school too many years ago and not for a very long time.
I agree, with the advice of the pain medication. Getting something to take everyday and keep the pain at a manageable level would be best. I recommend an anti inflammatory, it works best for me. I know if you can't get something from the docs prescription wise maybe they could recommend an over the counter medication that you can get in your country that would work the same way.
I also agree about the diet restrictions. If I stay away from sugar I do much better and staying away from caffeine is also a big help. If you drink de-caf tea that would be helpful. Even though de-caf anything still has some caffeine in it, it is much better.
With young children you get enough exercise, but that is also something that helps fibro. Stretching and walking are great. Don't feel bad about wanting time for yourself with out all the stress of taking care of a family. We have all been there and done that. It is just part of being a Mom and a big part of being a Mom with Fibro!
Glad to have you with us.

I wish to welcome you also and agree with our other fibro friends that your english is just fine ! This is a great place because you can find out a lot of information or complain or vent or whatever you may need. Hopefully ;)
I am a tea drinker also, i like the black teas but i love many tea's from all over. Look at teavanna, there you will find all kinds of healthy tea's and dont laugh but even Lipton has come out with some white teas, my favorite being white Blueberry & Pomegranate flavor, it just relaxes me. If tea is as important to you, as it is to me then you should enjoy these types of tea's. They have great antioxidants, sometimes just smelling them helps me to relax.
I hope you find what you need soon, its probably ruff with the two little loves of your life but as Glojer has said just a little exercise is good to loosen the muscles a bit, im sure chasing two little ones is plenty of exercise, just becareful and try not to over do it ! Well so far everyone has given you a dose of what you might need and there are plenty of Doctors in America that dont believe in Fibro neither, so its best to put it into your own hands. If you need anything just ask, im sure there will be an answer waiting :)
