I have the worst time trying to lose weight. I only eat dinner and I am pretty careful about what and how much I eat but occasionally I binge a little. If my blood sugar gets low, I can't seem to help myself and sometimes, I have to force myself to stop eating because I am full to bursting. This isn't often but, often enough that it bothers me. I have looked for an overeaters anonymous in my area and there isn't one. ANy ideas? Weight watchers is great but I really don't have money for the food and meetings. I have a trip coming up in July that I would like to be able to wear a bathing suit on. HELP!!

Hi Chippie, You really can't just eat dinner everyday. You have to eat 3 meals a day. Your body has gone into starvation mode and you can not lose weight when that happens. Your body thinks you are starving and it will hold onto everything you put into it. You have to regulate you eating so that your body knows it will get the nourishment it needs. Eat a light breakfast then a small lunch and then a sensible dinner, you will feel better doing that. To help with the "eating till ya burst" try taking half of what is on your plate and eating it and throwing the other half away. Only eating half of what is on your plate is a great way to start regulating your eating habits. Also try walking at least three times a week and work your way up to six days a week. Start off at about 1/2 a mile and work up to three miles at a time. This is a great way to burn calories and lose weight. There is a great support board on here that helps everyone keep on their plan, go to the weight loss forum on this board, they are a great bunch of people. I hope you can get motivated to start a program, it will help you feel better. Take care!

I think about 80 lbs would be good. I am heart broken right now. My SO informed me that he isn't attracted to me. I haven't gained more than 5 lbs since we met and now he's not attracted to me. Doesn't seem like it would matter to him if I lost weight. He'll always see me as a fat chick.

I agree with manderee - you need to eat more often. Spreading your calories out will help you speed your metabolism back up and will help you curb the urge to binge!

I would go beyond her advice though and suggest eating 5-6 times a day. Of course, you'll want to work up slowly. Maybe adding one meal for a few weeks, and then adding a third, and then a fourth and then a fifth ...

I agree w/ Chelle, it is better to eat 6 times a day, however, watch your portion size!! It doesn't mean you can eat 6 huge meals, but plan 3 decent meals, then include 2 healthy snacks. Portion control is the key, it is amazing how little you actually need. When you eat meats, a portion is usually the size of a deck of cards, doesn't seem like much, but if you put veggies with it, it will fill you up.
Also, breakfast is the worst meal to skip, even if your not hungry, or don't have time, try to eat something. It is a very important start to your day!!

I hope this helps!!

I had an apple and a banana for breakfast today and I had an apple for a snack yesterday and a nice salad for dinner..oil and vinegar dressing and a couple slices of turkey. I also had a turkey sandwich because I was starving. I am going to have salad for lunch today and broiled pork (probably) for dinner with more salad. I read a thread on another board here about coffee intake.. I drink a lot of coffe, probably eight cups over the course of the day..should I drop the coffee? I already gave up sodas. I am starting a video workout program as soon as I get the tape and Yoga as well. I have decided he can either love me as I am or I will get skinny and leave him!!

So, it's 3:30 and I am not starving to death. I had my apple and banana for breakfast, drank my coffee, (less than ususal) ate my salad for lunch and then had an orange juice and then a bottle of water. Now I am going to drink some skim milk. I plan on doing better tomorrow. I didn't plan well for snacks today so relied heavily on beverages but they weren't too high in sugar or sodium so I should be ok. I am at least well hydrated. I have faced some ugly truths in the last three days and have decided that it is time to invest in ME. I am cutting my hair and possibly getting a tattoo. I am still thinking on the tattoo but having worn my hair the way he likes it for ever, I am going to do what I want.

I speak from experience regarding weight loss. If someone is 80 pounds overweight you must seek professional guidance. Drastic situations in life call for drastic measures. You are at a crossroads you must decide how you will continue through life. All the empathy and understanding aside, your life is in jeopardy. In 1995, at the age of 38, I weighed 412 pounds. At 6'2" tall I looked like a giant Dom Deluise. I able to stand for only moments at a time. I was having vision trouble and went to the eye doctor. He referred me to my GP. I had reinal damage from strokes. At 38, I had a cardiologist, internist, endocrinologist, psychologist, and urologist. I was told that I was through. Literally, done with life. I had "let it go" to the point where I would not reach the age of 40. I had to decide how I was to live my life, what my priorities were and I was in a panic. I was presented with several options. I was not making a lot of money at the time and took the most diffilcult way because it was the cheapest. In January 1996, I started a medically supervised fast (no food - NONE) that lasted 186 days. I drank powdered meal replacements, drank a ton of diet soda and that was it. I had blood work every two weeks and began walking a mile a day. (eventually I would reach 7 miles a day walking.) I had the support of everyone at my work and my family. In those 186 days my life changed along with my body. I lost 182 pounds. My waist went from 62" to 36". There is something inside every person that enables them to do unbelievable feats. If you decide how and if you want to live your life, you will find the courage to make the changes necessary for your survival.

Hi all, I just wanted to respond to some of the comments above. Chippee, you are not eating enough!! the problem is, even if you loose weight short term, which of course you will on that diet, there are so many other health problems that will occur, and you will end up going through life with a weight problem that will never truly be solved. It's really so easy, just eat sensibly, and exercise. Period. Eat three balanced meals a day, have snacks and work your butt off on the track. There's no easy answer, that's the problem, is that people are always looking for something easy, or going off track, but really, if you are working out hard, you will be fine. It's just to simple for some people to accept, and they have to go through life counting calories and having an apple for breakfast. Just one more thing..........please re-think the tatoo!! It's the easiest way to transmit Hepatitis C, check into it! Even with tatoo places that say they are sterile, they can't, with the latest tatoo equipment, avoid Hep C totally, and that is a lifelong liver disease. Take care of your body!! Good luck, valger

Don't eat just once a day, that is silly, unhealthy, and It is making you hold on to weight too. Eat all day long, I'm serious. Eat fruits, veggies, yogurt, PROTEIN...drink lots and lots of water. Exercize. and most of all.......eat all day.

I just went back and read what you ate. EAT PROTEIN!!!!!! Otherwise you will loose muscle instead of fat. Once you loose all of that fat you don't want to be all flabby because you didn't protect your muscles, so PROTECT THEM!!! Eat some chicken in your salad or eat an egg for breakfast. Protein is not high in fat or calories(if you cook it without fat) and it is SO necessary.

Good luck and congrats on your sucess so far.

I will take help from anyone I can at this point. I am on Effexor for Post partem (although I think they can take me off it) and have been gaining weight steadily since the birth of my daughter. 10 months ago. I weigh more now than I did at 9 months pregnant. in the last 2 months I have started to work with a trainer, but the weight isn't coming off. I sometimes feel like I need to eat everything that isn't nailed down and other times, I don't eat anything. How are you doing it Chippie? and can anyone help me. I don't have the budget to do Jenny Craig or Seattle Suttons, it's too expensive. I am 5'3" and weigh 202lbs.
