This is the first forum where I can genuinely say I feel like people know what I go through on a daily basis. It's so hard to describe Fibro to people who do not have it. Typically people just say "oh everyone has that" "your getting older"
It's nice to know I am not alone.
Let me just start by telling you that, Although I have felt the symptoms for many years, I was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia two years ago. As with many of you I am sure, I had felt sore an achey and tired for years, I had inexplicable pains here, there and everywhere. I spent many years blowing it off thinking I was just working to hard, or it was from (as I was told years ago with Lymes Disease) once you get Lymes it never really goes away, so I thought It was that, plus I had several neck and back injuries when I was younger, I attributed it to that etc......So finally after I mustard the strength to leave my husband who told me I was just making it up, I went to my doctors office (he was my doctor since the age of 12) he reviewed my files cover to cover -- started sending me to specialists and has diagnosed me with something I now know was not just my imagination.
Nice to meet you all,
Jess

Jess - it is our pleasure to have you aboard!
The first time I found someone who actually believed my problems were real, well, I wept. At least I had somewhere to start researching and trying to find treatment and care. Although it is rotten thing to be diagnosed, it is so good to finally have some answers, isn't it? I am glad to hear your doc has kept himself up to date and was ready to listen and able to help you. :)
Unfortunately, many of us have suffered real loss and "damages" as a result of fibro, and it seems that you have had your share of that too. Come here anytime you have a question or just want to chat.
Wishing you peace and comfort,
Paddy

Welcome Jess, your story somewhat resembles mine. For years I ignore the little things, the achey pains, the stange pains, the wierd stuff. I just thought it was normal and didn't everyone get those. Like you I was told your not as young as you use to be or everyone feels like that. Like I said I thought everyone felt that way. Then I realized that people 10yrs. or more older than me, were doing a lot better than I was. I finally went to our family doc of 15yrs. and knowing me and my health he diagnosed fibro immediately. You can't explain it to people who don't experience it, but because of the commercials by the pharmaceutical companies more people recognize the name and don't think it is a psychiatric disease.
You are not alone and we are here to share, and listen, and offer info and to learn from your experience.

Do any of you get low grade fevers? I was told several years ago I might have a slight case of fibro but was never diagnosed with it. Had the usual muscle aches and pains and now my back is really bad. 7 herniated discs and DDD.
Just started have 99.8 fevers on and off for the last 6 weeks. Do the fevers
sound familiar? I am usually at 96.0. Thanks Linda

Hi Linda in NJ! In my case and a lot of fibro cases I know, we typically have lower than the average temps, like in the 96-97 degree range, although that is not an "official" symptom of fibro. Now if you had asked if I thought low temps were part of fibro - I might've said yes! ;) Having a fever is not usual without an underlying cause. Have you had any bloodwork done in the last few weeks? Maybe that would show something.
Linda - you might get some more and different responses if you start a new thread with your question, that way everyone will see your question, not just the few of us on this thread.
Wishing you peace and comfort,
Paddy

I get a low grade fever every now and then, actually quite often.... usually around 99.2... to some 99.2 may not sound high but I like many other fibro sufferers have a low temp to start, it was 96.7 the last time I was at the doctor, so at 99.2 you feel really crappy. I am going through a spike right now.
I told my doctor about it but she didn't seem concerned plus I don't have insurance so a bunch of test is out of the question.
I am curious to hear if others get the low grade fever as well.

Its just so finally mentally relieving to go from having no one that understands to a whole group that does.
Like today I had the worst fog day I have had in a while. I go out to my car at lunch, and for the third time in less then a month I had left my lights on and the battery went dead........I was so frustrated with myself for doing this AGAIN!!!! I threw my keys down on the passenger seat, get out of my car to call my dad, LOCKING the door:mad: Then I realize I had lost my spare key from the last time I locked my keys in my car:confused::confused: SO then I precede to call my ex husband who has atleast the spare remote (which probably won't work anyway because remember the battery is dead) and says "Why would I drop what I am doing to help you? Then used some very mean language to tell me to go you know what and call me a female dog:mad: <---these are the types of people I deal with in my life. No sympathy, No compassion.

Oh Jess! I'm hoping today is a better one than yesterday (how can it not be?!?). ;)
I see you are experiencing the very real repercussions of "fibro fog". The confusion, disorganized thoughts, infuriating isn't it?
I know things will get better for you soon. Take each day as a new chance to learn more about yourself and about fibro. One step at a time in overcoming the challenges okay?
We are all thinking about you and wishing you well,
Paddy

jess,
get 5 keys made. buy two of those little magnetic boxes and stick them on your car, someplace hidden. put one extra key in your purse, one at work and one at home outside, also hidden. anything that prepares you for the next time. and be cool with the fact that there probably will be a next time. we all do stuff like that.
i carry what i call, my brain. a one year date book with all the stuff i must remember. i make notes. i have extra keys strewn about. there is no way i would call an ex for anything. it's a set up girlfriend.
time for me to hush up. sending you mind energy for clear thinking today.

I have had blood work done twice now and everything is normal, even SED rate.
Doctor was looking for some lupus signs but there has been nothing of anything. White blood cell count is even perfect. This is very baffling. My normal temp is between 95 and 96, so when it does go up to 99, I do feel it.
Thanks ladies. Just knowing you're out there makes me feel better.:D

After posting my reply I took my temp and sure enough it is 99.2 again. I am trying to notice some things that aren't right. I know I do perspire a lot right before I get one and I get a very very slight headache. No pain anywhere.
My back actually feels pretty good today. I will see my doctor next week so hopefully we will get to the bottom of this.

When my temp jumps to 99.2, I also get a slight headache, neck ache, an overall chill feeling and just feel like total crap. I can even feel it in my chest like I am breathing in cold air if that makes since and my skin is so sensitive that even a shower stings my whole body. I always know when it is up without taking my temp. I usually take my temp just to verify though.
I hope you get figured out what is going on! Then maybe I can mention to my doctor on what they should check since I don't have insurance right now to check for all the possibilities.
Not having insurance and being broke really blows!

Honestly the only reason why I had called him is because I was so darn embarrassed to call my family again. They all look at me like I am a total dingbat anymore. I mean they are sympathetic, but I feel so bad about calling them so much. I have already made extra keys, (today in fact) put some in my drawer at work, gave one to each family member.........

family is always a better choice than an ex. they love you and wish they understood but they cannot. no one who does not have it can understand. they can only care. i know those weird looks as well. i got used to it. decided this is just the way some show their concern. frustrated concern they cannot fix. and how they wish they could.
good girl on the keys.

ps you might as well get used to the feeling "very embarrassed". it goes with the territory. learn to laugh instead. with yourself, about yourself. it makes a huge difference in how the moment goes down.

Its so frustrating though, That is so hard for me. I was always a hard worker, Had the world by the you know what at a very young age, I owned a house before most of my friends did. Actually at 33 Most of them still haven't bought homes. I always had the "career" not the "job"............etc. It's a very different lifestyle to get used to. I am not the type that likes to slow down. Now I am forced to. It's very frustrating going from very intelligent in the business meetings (not trying to be conceited) to can't even simply make it to work and not do something stupid like leaving my headlights on or locking my keys in my car.

jess, that is rough when you have to realize you have to make notes about everything and check a schedule all the time. It is just part of having fibro and once you get use to it, life becomes a little easier. Thank goodness my car has that little dinger thing that tells me my lights are on. I like blue have a yearly calander I carry in my purse and one at home and ALL is written down on that otherwise it would be forgotten. That is a wonderful idea about the keys, how about a check list in your car. You know something simple like turn off lights, make sure you have key before locking door.....giggle....it might help.

Linda, have you had your thyroid tested. Hypothyroidism could cause some of the higher fevers. I use to run a higher than normal temp around 99 but I notice since I am being treated for my thyroid problems my temp is usually lower. Can't explain it, just seems like that is what happened.

my car also tells me when i forget something. i always say, thank you car.

Yes Glojer, I've had everything checked with 2 complete blood work ups.
They might run some cultures this week. Had a fever of 99.2 and 99.7 yesterday. And normal at night. Today so far is normal. Have 2 doctors appointments this week so I'll keep in touch. Thanks for your suggestions.

The fuse blew out from the last time I had left my lights on and had to get my car jumped (will be fixed on monday), I usually do keep my keys in my hands until I am out of my car and in my workplace (old habit taught to me, I used to go to school in nasty city so I kept them in my hands as a weapon)But that day I was frustrated I threw them. Lists, notes, checklists? I write them but I forget to look at them or I forget where I put them. Thats whats frustrating UGH!!!!!! no matter how organized I try to keep myself, I still mess up:(
