If anyone out there has had gastric bypass or is knowledgable about it let me know what the cost is?
I am thinking of possibly getting it done myself and would like to know a round about cost. Also let me know how much insurance companies are willing to pay on this surgery.

Man 20 grand is a lot of money, but I believe that it is worth it.
If you don't mind me asking what do you weigh now and what results to you hope to achieve after the surgery?
And also one more quick question, how much is a little that you are taking out of pocket like 5 g's?

I have to pay 10 percent. Which isn't bad compared to the 20g's. I way about 220, but I have a pretty bad family history that I'm trying to avoid. I'd be happy getting down to 150. Anything more is just a bonus!!

I lucked out and paid nothing, I spent extra time in the Hospital the bill was almost $75Gs plus $12Gs for Kessler to teach me to walk, I have no idea what the surgeon got, I got a letter from my MD, a shrink and a nutriolistt saying I would die without it, I was up to 578lbs Im down to 292, some complacations well worth it surgery was 11/28/02

I'm having my surgery on May 28. My insurance is covering it. I have a co-payment. I have heard it costs anywhere between $15K and $30K.... not sure what mine will cost. There is a great web site I found today at basilwhite.com. He is a comedian from DC who wrote a daily diary about the whole surgery process before and after. He is really informative... check it out.
