Hi. I'm wandering and just sat down here. Can't get settled down to sleep, so have to get up and wander around. Really bad pain tonight for some reason (does fibro really need a reason?!?) Hope there is nobody doing the same thing and that you are all tucked into your beds, and comfortably snoozing away....
Did a bit of deadheading and trimming today - maybe I did too much.
Hoping you all have peace and comfort tonight,
Paddy

Hi Paddy! It's 9:00 here so I'll be up for a while. Just surfing these boards. It's good to know that when you can't sleep you can get on these boards and talk to people suffering fromt he same thing:) Do you take sleep meds? I usually take xanax but I was just prescribed Elavil so we'll see how that works. I hope you sleep well! Take care:)

Hi all you night owls ! Yes I'm another one of those lucky people who often has trouble getting off to sleep- here it's 3.45 am and I'm still wide awake and will probably stay this way for quite a while. I'm usually a late night person, up til 2 or 3 most nights but lately I've had really mad sleep patterns- either awake for 24 hrs+ or can sleep for days ! With me it's usually silly things like a night out or stressing about something that keeps me up rather than pain which for some reason tends to ease off of a night :( Though having said that tonight I've been counting the hours til my next dosage... oh well only another hour to go :D It's on nights like this it's definitely a relief to be able to come on here and know that for some of you guys out there it's early evening so I've got some company apart from my fish ( who don't want to know unless there's food about !)
I do have meds for helping me to sleep but I like to try avoiding taking them as they tend to knock me out completely leaving me feeling wiped out for the following few days. Oh well, can't win em all !

I use to have the 'can't fall asleep' problem. I finally gave into my docs reasoning and started taking sleeping meds. I take my ambienCR and go right to bed and for several months now haven't had any problems. I'm not saying I didn't have problems still after starting the ambien but so far so good these last few months. It just seemed to take forever to get it all regulated to do the most good.

I will be thinking of you all and hoping for some beautiful sleep filled nights in the future for all of you having sleep issues. It took a long time and a tough struggle to regulate my sleep time and meds but it will happen for you. Don't give up, the peace of sleep will be yours someday!

Hi,

I take regular Ambien (Ambien CR and Lunesta don't work on me, I don't even get drowsy)10mg and then 1/2 tablet when I wake up. This with Elavil really help. I also take Soma at night and it really has helped with the usual aches and pains. There's times when nothing works. I have an alarm clock that has different noises, I like the one that sounds like a summer night, crickets, etc. and I turn it around so I'm not staring at the time. I know you lie there thinking, okay, I've got 6 hours to sleep, I've got 5 and 1/2 hours to sleep, etc........ It's not too bad generally, but if I have to get up early that's when I don't sleep as well. I'm on disability and have no kids at home, what's his face works second shift and I've always to some degree been a night-owl. Maybe you can go to a linen store and get some of that linen spray scented lavender and squirt it on your pillowslip and the top of your sheets. Another scent that's soothing is myrrh, just don't use too much of it. I put some of the oil on a cottonball and wipe it on the pillowslip. I've made lavender sachets too and give them a squeeze to release the oil. My headboard is wood and wrought iron vines, so I can hang the sachet right above my head. I have to have background noise, so there's usually a fan on and sometimes the TV. I also can't sleep if I'm hot, so I have an icepack and in the winter I always have my window opened a crack.

I'm just glad there's all of you out there that GET IT. Someday maybe there will be an end to this sleep mess. Nite-nite!

Ambien CR has been the best thing ever for me. I've been on it for quite a while now and am paranoid that at some point, the doc won't refill it for me. It really works incredibly well. I still sometimes have trouble falling asleep, but once I'm asleep I can stay asleep. If I need to get up during the night with my son, I wake up easily and am able to go back to sleep. I'm still 'tired' when I get up in the morning (early for work and for my son's school) but before starting the Ambien CR, I wasn't able to function in the morning after several nights of no sleep.

Hi all! I finally got to sleep that night but man! that was really a bad case of the wanders. It was like Restless Legs Syndrome, but I had "Restless Body Syndrome"! lol.
I do take Elavil, but sometimes the pain pokes through and keeps me awake. Maybe I should check with doc about increasing the dosage? But up til now it has worked pretty well.
I'm going for a nap. Three nights of this is getting to me, and I am determined to get back to my aqua therapy next week. Wish me luck! ;)
Thanks for all of your chats.
Wishing you peace and comfort,
Paddy
