I have been with my husband for over 24 years and no one else. How did I get exposed to HPV 84?

This is a strain that causes warts, right? Do either you or your husband currently have any?

I just did some searching for hpv-84 and it seems to me like it looks like the type that could cause cancer, but it is a bit difficult to find.
Lubbockp, what we are trying to decide/find out is if hpv-84 is a high risk HPV or a low risk HPV. Low risk HPV can lead to genital warts. High risk HPV can lead to cancer if undetected and/or untreated. Can you call your doctor's office back and ask if it is a high risk or low risk HPV?
If it is a high risk HPV, then it is possible to have the virus for years or decades without it being detected.
