I'm currently taking Lyrica and it has really helped me for over a year. However, recently I feel as though I should increase the dose because it's not as effective. It's an expensive drug and will cost even more when I increase the dose. I was thinking about changing to Neurontin since it's Lyrica's sister drug and it's cheaper. I just don't know if it's as effective as Lyrica. I know it has to be taken in higher doses. Has anyone had success with it and if so, what doses do you take? Thanks!

Hi,
I've taken them both and I don't like them.......they make me feel worse. The side effects for me are what I was given the drug for in the first place. I imagine that the cheaper drug is alright, it's basicly the same thing. I'm finding that the Lyrica doseage does seem to have to be continually increased. Good luck.

Hi, I have taken Neurontin, and am currently on Lyrica. Neurontin did work for me for a while, then I got switched to Lyrica, which I think must me a miracle pill. I was taking 150mg 2x's a day, and was doing well except whenever I sat dow even for 5 minutes and got back up, my feet felt like they were swollen and I could hardly walk. My pain management doc lowered my dose down to 100mg 2x's a day. It has not helped, but the dosage is still helping the fibro, so I am happy about that. I don't go back to my doc until next month. Sometimes I wonder what is causing the pain, if it is really the fibro or what? In the mean time, I am having surgery for a Morton's Neuroma in my foot, that too causes so much pain and I wonder if I get the two pains mixed up, god knows, there is so much different pain with fibro. Anyway, if the neurontin works for you take it, it is much cheaper. Both have side affects and I have gained so much weight with both of them, but not having the pain like I used to beats the weight gain. I am still walking 3 miles a day.

Hi Sunny! Thanks for the reply! Lyrica really has been a miracle pill for me. Currently I take 100mg 3x daily, but I think I may have to increase the dose soon as it's not as effective. I hope increasing the dose works. It's just that this darn drug is costing so much! That's why I was thinking of trying neurontin, hoping that it gives the same results. I guess I'll increase the dose of Lyrica first to see if it provides relief.
