Has anyone had this? What was it like? Would you recommend it?

I've had implanon since march and yes I would recommend it. I've had little problems with it besides the normal breakthrough bleeding, which apparently stops after a year. I've bought a stock of pantyliners and have been fine.

I get my period every 2 months, but it is longer and lighter than when I was on the pill. Sometimes for a day or 2 I have enough of a flow to wear a regular tampon, but most of the time I just wear a panty liner or the lites tampons and have no problems.

For the first 2 weeks I was a little freaked out about the stick in my arm and sometimes I still have neurotic little feelings about it but that's exactly what it is neurosis.

I would absolutely recommend for busy women like myself who have a completely irregular life and can't take a pill at the same time everyday. I had no idea how much I hated taking a pill until I got on implanon and was like "Hallelujah! I don't have to crawl out of bed in the middle of the night when I have a panic attack because I forgot to take my pill."

The Peace of mind is so worth the minor breakthrough bleeding.

Hey I grabbed a phamplet telling about this when I was at the OB the other day. I don't do too well with high doses of progestins and that's what this purely consists of. I was wondering, Gracie, did you have any sort of mood problems on the pill? I'm scared to get this because I am a hormonal mess on some pills. You can just stop taking or switch an oral form of medication, but this is an implant and kinda pricey from what I understand, so I'm very hesitant. I also thought about getting a tubal, which is more cost efficent in the long run.

Hey Amber,

I haven't had any mood issues and the only change I noticed on that end was that my sex drive went up.
It's true it's more of a commitment and not easily exchanged, but... tubal isn't the easiest either, and I believe that can have harmful effects if you do try to get pregnant later in life.
It's not the easiest decision and everyone's body reacts differently so... I'd talk with your doctor about it as much as possible. For me the cost analysis was beneficial as the whole implanon and procedure was $750 and at $40 a packet of BC for 3 years at $1440, it was kind of a no brainer.
Good Luck!

This sounds like my problem too. I had it put in July 22 and had 1 normal period. However, Since Sept 3, I have had spotting/breakthrough bleeding every day. This is driving me nuts!!! I've called doc and they say it should calm down after 3 months. That would be in a couple of weeks, but I am getting frustrated.
