This has happened for quite sometime, and it mostly happens with foods with higher fat content, where when I burp, it feels like the food is right there and might come up. It never does, but it feels like it. I would think that it's indigestion, but is it a common GERD symptom. I have GERD and was just wondering. Thanks!

Does anyone have this feeling sometimes? Is it part of GERD?

Sometimes when I eat the first few bites of food get stuck and I literally cannot get it to go down. So I have to excuse myself and go gag and throw up. This is especially bad if we are in a restaurant.

I don't know if it is GERD. But I do have acid reflux, not too bad. however, this symptom is a life changer. Honestly, I never know when it will happen. And I always upchuck with a TON of mucus coming up with whatever piece of food is stuck.

This is going to send me to a specialist I guess. But it hardly ever happens with carbs or soft foods.
I am afraid maybe I have scar tissue.

I have a friend who has to have her esophagus (sp) stretched yearly because of the same problem. I'm not sure if that's what you have going on but it sounds similar.
