I went off birth control over a month ago. It seems as though I had a bad flare and my fibro got worse. I'm thinking it's due to the change in my hormones. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

That's interesting because before my period is when I get bad flares. And I thought maybe if I go back on birth control I'd feel better. I haven't been on birth control for 17 years since I had my tubes tied. But since I'm in my late 30s and I smoke I don't think it's a good idea. And that makes me mad because I got the tubes tied so I wouldn't have to worry about birth control!!
But I bet it would help so you may be onto something.

I was on birth control for the same amount of time I've had fibro. So being off of it, it felt as if it got worse...especially right before I'm supposed to start my period...which is any day now. I think hormones do play a part in the way our fibro feels.

I definitely agree! I always had bad cramps during my time of the month but since my FM started, the cramps became so bad I couldn't even stand up. I would be almost confined to my bed for 3 days or more. My doctor started me on Alesse and the difference is like night and day. I still get a bit of a pain flare during my period, but it's a breeze compared to how I was before.
